Re: Mini app spree

Heh, no one answered his first question in the original post.

I think its better to do an app spree just for the following reasons:

  • Inquiries will fall off at the same time.
  • Accounts will age together.
  • None of the accounts will report if you do the applications within 1 day of each other. No new account reporting means no huge drop in AAOA or score. Also, lenders won't think that you are credit hungry if you need to recon. (Hard inquiries will show immediately though so apply to the cards you really want first)

These are my reasons. Congrats on your approvals. I recommend your next card to be the Sallie Mae World Mastercard. Of course, if you want an AMEX, I also recommend that you apply today or tomorrow.

EDIT: Don't apply for the Sallie Mae card now. Barclays doesn't like new accounts so wait 6-8 months before applying for this card.

Cards: CSP 6k, Chase Freedom 6k, BCP 7.5k, Sallie Mae 8.9k, Discover 5k, BOFA Better Rewards 3.8k

Re: Mini app spree

You asked about keeping a small balance - don't!

Always pay in full, paying interest just reduces the cash in your pocket and does nothing to help your credit in the long term. Always pay in full.

But do read up about utilization on the forums. Reporting a balance is fine, and is encouraged.

In My Wallet: Amex BCP (12/12) $50,000, Chase Freedom (12/12) $16,500, Cap1 Quicksilver (6/12) $14,000, Barclaycard Rewards (5/13) $10,500, Citi Prestige (4/16) $30,000

Last App: June 27, 2015

A little info about me.

I am 18 with 2 capital one cards for about 6 months. My EQ score is 712

Today i applied for the walmart discover card and was approved for 3k

Went ahead and applied for the discover it card. Approved for 1.5k

Then went for the chase freedom and approved for 3k.

Currently have about 1.2k from capital one.

I think i got the main cards i would need for now. Would it be better to apply for cards in the same period or spread them out?>

And lastly is there any other card I should go for like Amex?

CONGRATS!!! Smiley Happy

I would leave the submit button alone for a bit and join the garden for 6 months!
