A couple years ago I got a Mohawk card through Synchrony because it was a way to get the flooring we wanted for the upstairs of our house and take a year to pay. I paid it off and have had it sitting there dormant waiting for them to tell me they're going to close it for non-use. I got an email today saying they're changing the card to Synchrony Home and that it can be used at a lot of places related to home improvement & decorating with some nice financing options.
Kind of excited this thing might be useful again, especially with starting a remodel on the main floor.
That's really sweet!
I have a Synchrony tire store card that has been upgraded to what Synchrony calls "Car Care". That single store card has now turned into a card that can be used for many gas stations, local repair shops, big name auto parts stores, as well as many other tire stores. I was wondering if the card would get closed automatically due to no activity, but now they have opened up a lot of ways to use the card to keep it open and for the occassional tire purchase with promo plan.
I agree! Wish my Car Care got that 2% that your Home card gets. I may need to app for this Home card, as it seems to be better than a Home Depot or Lowes card!
They notified me via email so it might be worth making sure they have your correct one in their system.
Total side note to this: the search for retailers is very clunky on their website. They say there's an app now and maybe it's easier to use. From what I did see, there are a very usable number of retailers on the list- furniture, flooring, building supply, services, craft stores, Aldi for some reason, and Lowes (not Home Depot). I'll be curious to find out if any issues arise with use.
Still waiting for the new card to arrive but I did get an email today telling me it will be in my mailbox "soon". Anyone get theirs yet?
I JUST did- literally yesterday. I was getting a little worried because I got an email a couple weeks ago saying something to the effect of "don't forget to activate your card" making it sound like I should already have it.
