Saw a couple posts about Chase Slate reducing CLs on low/no activity cards. I have 4,800 on one I havent touched since paying off in August and dont plan to use. I use my Freedom (3,500) all the time. Will they put the 4,800 onto my Freedom and close the Slate if I request? Id love to have that total limit just on the Freedom. Is that a good idea and how do I go about that? I wouldn't want to get a CLD and decrease total LOC. Thanks!
Call customer service. I'm not sure if you can move all of it, but you can certainly move most of the CL...maybe all but $500 or $1k or something.
*You also might be able to PC the slate to a Freedom Unlimited or a second Freedom. that part is much more YMMV.
+1 as long as the card has not been recently used they will allow you to move most of the credit line when closing the card. The credit line on the closed card will show on your reports as $500 or $1000, whatever they end up requiring you to keep on there.
If you have high balances don't call in. They may give you a CLD instead of letting you move the avalaible credit. If you have very small balances its probalby save.
You can do either. My CFU used to be a Slate a long time ago. That should be an easy PC and it's a good card. If you want, they will probably let you move all except $500. That's what I have been told repeatedly and did when I closed a Chase card to combine limits. Just call customer service or send a secure message from within the website.

They may also give you a $2,000,000 statement credit just for calling in, but since there is no evidence of either of those events ever happening to anyone when calling to combine credit limits, I'd lean more toward they will allow all but $500-1000 of the credit line being moved.
