You already have very respectable limits of $12K (I don't like this one, will request a CLI after I put a $1,500 charge on it this weekend) to $50K on all your cards
(with the exception of your Lowe's store card, which you could probably easily push higher from what I've read about it. Nope, just tried that a few days ago and was denied. I haven't used it much so far, probably the reason.
Sounds like you consider your CLs similar to my goals. I am trying to structure my limits to start at $25K minimum and have multiple over $50K. My two current lowest personal $10K cards (Marriott and Hyatt) are temporary limits; they are both from earlier this year and started at $33K and $30K but I moved limits around with Chase to my core cards (CSR/CFU/CF). I eventually plan to close and consolidate those limits as well. I am using my Capital One Quicksilver again now before I push it to $25K hopefully in a couple of months. And after Apple is aged six months I hope it will grow to $25K minimum since I've used it several times a month since August. (*I discount my $9K limit on Chase Business Cash for the $25K goal since I don't expect such high limits based on my business basis of a small sole proprietorship.)
I'm honestly surprised about your Lowe's card as I never had the impression that heavy use was necessary for CLIs. (I've seen a lot of members with much lower scores and probably income or usage than yours with limits of $35K on that card.)
Yes, Wells Fargo seems to be a pretty conservative lender, not only with approvals but starting CLs. So I'm not surprised that is a "low" card for you. I notice you also don't have a US Bank card and wonder if that was a reason you didn't app to them? (They also typically have strict underwriting and low SLs compared to many other national banks.)
I like my limits in the 20s. I was able to get DISCO over 20K. PNC I'll need to see what I can do there. I will call them for a rate reduction. 24.24 or whatever it is, too high. Offers are coming out at 16.74. Maybe see what a CLI entails.
Someone on the forum once said Synchrony wont CLI if you freeze your credit reports, which I do.
But maybe the best way to get a CLI over time with other cards is open another card, keep it for a year, and see if I can transfer the CL to the other card, even if they retain $500 on the donor card before cancelling lol.

That seems to be the best way with some lenders. But I would suggest researching each one before you do it if that is your end-game. Each bank can be different. Some are pretty strict about letting you move limits and won't even consider it. I have called customer service to ask about policies.

For sure. With PNC, I wouldn't want to open a new card and find out later that I can't transfer limits, and it's not widely known here on their policies, so I'd need to call.
As for US Bank, I seriously looked at them, but their 5% categories are difficult to max out, and when I get a card, I like to keep using it, so it wouldn't get much usage.

Agreed, although the "Home Utilities" is most appealing to me on a regular basis. I have a house and the average $666 per month cap on utilites would probably be mostly used, especially since you have another 5% category to add to the mix. I already get 5% on TV-internet with my Chase INK Business Cash but that would be another good category to keep for most people. I could see selecting furniture stores, electronics stores, or clothing stores on a quarter-by-quarter basis for some spending patterns.
I've thought about the Cash+ for that and because it would establish a banking relationship with USB which would allow me to apply for the Altitude Reserve. While it has the $400 AF, there is a $325 travel credit offset and then a 3% cash-back on mobile wallet on anything you buy, uncapped. But like you, I don't want to add cards to my wallet which have no long-term fit into my regular spend.
CASH+ 5% categories:
@Anonymous wrote:It was my understanding that you simply needed to leave enough to cover your AF, which cannot exceed 25% of your CL? So worst case scenario, you'd have to leave $380 on the CSP. I don't see why OP would haev needed to leave over $1K.
That said, being able to move $9+K over to another card still seems reasonable. One shouldn't be too greedy with Money that technically isn't theirs?
During the call, I asked "Mary" what if I had called to consolidate my limits before the AF posted, would I have still had to leave $1,095 behind with my CSP? She said "yes". It was as if Chase wanted me to pay that AF, even if it was with my credit-currency.. I briefly considered countering her $1,095 donor amount with $500.

Its awfully tempting to call a CSR to ask general questions that we are only guessing on the logic behind them on the forum, but that's not what they are there for. Plus, unless you get a smart cookie, they wouldn't know the answer anyway.
