So we've all heard that big bad AMEX will close your account or give you a CLD if you sock drawer their card for too long, but has anyone with multiple AMEXs had a bad experience with using only one card?
I got approved for BCE today and I was thinking about leaving my Clear card at home indefinitely. As it is, I only use Clear once or twice a month, but BCE will get a lot more mileage at gas stations/supermarkets.

Honestly I have heard the opposite ~ that AMEX is better than most about not closing idle accounts.
Maybe I am mistaken ~ I'm sure that others will post with their experiences...
I have a friend that wanted me to help him check his credit and make sure it was all good... I think we pulled just TU from here at Fico... he had about 3-4 credit cards, $0 balances for over 2 years and 1 was an Amex with an $8k or so CL... All just sitting there.... Credit Score 810!
The only thing that did have a balance was 1 car loan with Toyota....
I was shocked that with no use of cards that his score stayed that high and I guess because it's so high, creditors are not going to take it away, they want to be there if you choose to use!
now for us rebuilders you don't use and you will be closed or CLD.... but I really have never seen Amex do it if credit stayed good.
I have been an Amex member since 1991 and have multiple accounts and some i have not used for many years and there are still good..I have always had great sevice from Amex...take care of them and they will take care of you
Ok thanks for the input. I'm not really rebuilding so much as I am building. My file is pretty thin, probably only about 5 years old, but I have a good score. I think it's a bit higher than what is in my sig since I've been gardening since then and have lowered my util (it was ~30% the last time I updated my sig, now it's 0).
I haven't heard of Amex closing cards that aren't being used. I can't remember the last time I used my Blue or Clear as I use my BCP exclusively out of the three.
Edited to add: at one point you can transfer most of your CL from your Clear to your BCE. There's an option online. I asked the rep about it and she had no idea what I was talking about.

Hmm that might be something to consider down the line. Both cards have a $2000 CL right now. I don't plan on ever needing that much, I just like it to help my util
