Read to see how many people have been shut down with the USAlliance card with the 6% grocery spend. That is caped at $2,000/month. But still a lot people use that to buy GCs at grocery stores.
"I was slowly increasing volume and was doing $2.5K per week. I guess they decided to look through accounts and emailed shutdown notices yesterday. I was trying to stay below the radar but failed."

That is totally normal (probable) GC abuse, which is against the cash-equivalent provisions of most issuers. Until Jan 1st, the category wasn't capped (otherwise getting $2K at 6% and $8K at 1% wouldn't be too special) so multiple cards don't come into it.
Now with the cap, I don't know if anyone has applied for 2. Or if that would really be abuse.
The whole discussion with Cash+, Freedom etc (any card capped in amount or categories) really depends on what the issuer thinks the value prop is. If they think they can make money on 1 Cash+ overall, it's not certain that they couldn't make money on 2. (They probably won't, as those asking for 2 are more likely to be use-only-for-max-rewards types, but still!)

@BronzeTrader - you're missing the entire point. This thread is specific to the USB Cash+ card and any multiples of said card, at most 2 by a single cardholder. Not USAlliance, not Chase. U S B a n k.
I had two at one point. Obtained the SUBs on both cards without any issues and used categories without a hitch.
Please point us to a USB shutdown because of your illusion of perceived abuse on that particular product. That's right, there's no topics on that ever since the USB Cash+ was launched. Maybe try Reddit.

You can certainly read OP's post. The intention is to obtain the new card bonus, and that only. And in rapid fashion. That is clearly a red flag.
Sure OP can do that with other players like P2 etc.
My point is that, just do not abuse anything that is good. Then get trapped and get shut down.

@sean31732 wrote: Finstar... Thanks for the reply.Honestly, I'd rather stick with the US Bank version and not the smaller bank knockoff versions of this card. 👍
The reason I mentioned ELAN was because some members may not be aware of the USB alternatives.
I'm not sure it's quite fair to characterize the Max Cash as "the smaller bank knockoff versions" Elan is just a division of US Bank that, amongst other things, basically white labels US Bank credit cards to other banks ...not really a knockoff
🤨Funny how for a "knockoff", some of the categories are definitely better/more inclusive. "Entertainment" being a bigger category than just "Movie Theaters" for example.
The argument I would accept is "I don't want to add another login to juggle and/or track, and prefer to add to one I'm already using" 👍
That's true, @unsungivy. The additional login would probably be the major complaint. I think this applies even if you have deposit accounts with the sponsoring financial institution for the Elan card.
There are other benefits to the Elan cards, but you mentioned a great one:

Are you the USB SUB police?
The OP stated on post#4:
"Can someone APPLY for a 2nd US Bank CASH+ credit card (and get the sign-up bonus again), AFTER APPLYING (and getting approved) for the 1st card which also came with the same/similar signup bonus?
In other words, does anyone know the TIMEFRAME (i.e. CHASE) where a sign-up bonus would become eligible for this type of 'double dipping'?"
Where does it say on that specific post anything about that the OP is going to "obtain the new card bonus, and that only. And in rapid fashion."? Sounds like you've made a pretty extreme assumption. Do you know the OP?
At any rate, the OP didn't elaborate or indicate that any P2 was involved. So, if they choose to apply for another Cash+ card, that's their own prerogative. Also, if USB didn't want to have individuals "abuse" such option, they would simply not allow PCs or approve cardholders for multiple Cash+ products. They would have done so 5 or 6 years ago. They also have SUB clauses for CYA. So, it's up to the OP to leverage how they want to proceed based on the more relevant advice that's been provided on the first few replies.
And, again, no USB shutdown has occurred for any cardholder accounts when obtaining or having multiple USB products, including Cash+.

Here is what OP said, I circled it and all that
Also, I'm not sure what's up with constant bringing up of P2 as if that's a solution to every problem.

Really reaching here, if you DON'T bank with US Bank, but if you want to get the Altitude Reserve! But I don't actually know that the Max Cash won't count, as it is really Elan, but somehow doubt it.

While that has long been the case, @longtimelurker, US Bank removed the "existing client" language from Altitude Reserve applications sometime during 2022 from my understanding. Cold apps are now allowed! But yes, previously you needed to have either deposit accounts or another credit card.

I had missed that change. So now it's just a card for the masses, into my S/D it goes!
