Re: My Cashback Strategy can't be beat can it?

Can you give me an example as I consider all the cards as cashback cards? Thanks

Great points. I am trying to not have many annual fee cards unless they really make sense. I am in the first year of my BCP & CSP so I may downgrade bothe to BCE & another Chase Freedom. Not sure yet about those 2 yet. I do use the Amex Platinum for the free hotel upgrades and lounge access along with fringe benefits like Roadside assistance.

I will have to look into that. I didn’t know you can use Amex Plat as Cashback ?

I like your thoughts. I was thinking about applying for the CSR after I downgrade my CSP to Freedom then I can redeem all my saved UR using the Chase portal to maximize my UR at that time.

Don’t I get all that with Amex Biz Platinum card? Please advise? That sounds great

True. I only close cards when I PC to another card. No other reasons.

Amex Platinum can be used for cash back as a statement credit. It gets a not-quite industry-leading 0.6 cents per point that way.

As for downgrading CSP and applying for CSR, there’s really no point anymore since you now have to wait 48 months between Sapphire signup bonuses.

Do you have anything for drug stores?   I use the OBC which gives 5% but that's no available for new apps now and I don't know a good alternative.

And maybe drug stores aren't a big spend for you.   But that brings up the big question!   With all these cards, what would you lose if you dropped say the lowest spend 5 or 10 and used a 2% card instead?   This is related to why not go SUB route instead.

OP says Freedom for Walgreens for this quarter. Granted, that's not year-round.

I have a strong dislike for most brick-and-mortar drug stores. Extortionate prices, poor selection, and minimal staff creating long lines (as opposed to the lines being the result of a lot of customers). If I can't get something at Costco, I can generally wait a little bit and order it online.

Though some things are not eligible for price protection (including medicine with Citi, which is not so clearly defined) I would think semi- or fully-automated price protection (via price rewind searches or some third-party tracking app) would be the most useful trait in a drug store card...at least if someone is buying toiletries there.

Personal spend: Amex Gold, Amex Schwab Plat., BofA PR+CCR(x2), Costco
Business use: Amex Bus. Plat., BBP, Lowes Amex AU, CFU AU
Perks: Delta Plat., United Explorer, IHG49, Hyatt, "Old SPG"
Mostly SD: Freedom Flex, Freedom, Arrival
Upgrade/Downgrade games: ED, BCE
SUB chasing: AA Platinum Select

Re: My Cashback Strategy can't be beat can it?

I don’t know of a card that gets 5% CB at drugstores so I just use 3%. Does anyone know of a card that gets 5% at drugstores except OBC. I wouldn’t spend enough for the OBC to have it make sense. Once my Walgreens promotion runs out I will probable use discover it miles and PayPal Biz Debit to get 3% back unless someone knows of a 5% at drugstores card?
