Amex is so picky about CLIs.

They're sticklers about giving them if your score isn't at least 680 and you have to show them you don't need them.

Low util on the card every month.  blah.

Oh well, I'll put 1k on the AMEX and 1k on the Discover Rewards so I'll just split the reward benefits.  I'm putting in new flooring in my house and will PIF on both cards.  I was just hoping to get some extra miles to make it past my driveway and around the corner perhaps!

I tried that method.

System doesn't care how much business you give the card.  Pretty much just contingent upon cbr and utilization with other creditors in order to obtain it.

Also factors in your tendency to revolve a balance.  It's nicer to the PIF folks.

Well I guess that makes sense then.  I haven't looked at my EX score for a month but it was 689 on Dec 1.  I've PIFfed multiple times in the two months I've had the card, and my overall util on EX is 3%.

Re: My First Amex CLI

Congrats cheddar!

I was a bit more brave earlier this month. After having my Blue for less than 60days I went from $2k to $5k instantly.

There you go!  You're the type of cardmember amex loves.  You can pretty much get approved or negotiate with any type of request.  Try inquiring for an apr reduction if you're not at the standard rate.

Well that is good to know.  I'm already at the standard 17.49 APR on this card, which is the only rate listed in the T&C, but thanks for the tip!

Re: My First Amex CLI

I will be waiting a while.  My EX has gone up 50 points since I got the card 3 weeks ago, but I want to PIF the money I have spent, set up automatic minimum payment, and get all my other cards reporting very low.  As my TU and EQ are 50 points higher than my EX, I hope to persuade Amex to go over the famous $10,000 limit!

Should be sometime in February I hit the button

The slide from grace is really more like gliding
And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid

I've seen rates on blue as low as 11.24 %. I've also seen on blue cash (I see you've got the regular) rates at fixed 9.99%.

Maybe you can get it lowered a little bit.  Or if your score bumps up you'll qualify.  They always try to say you're the lowest when you're not.

I take back what I just said.

I just spoke with someone with a 10.29 percent interest rate on Blue Classic.

Re: My First Amex CLI

Well that is crap-
I PIF (I did revole a blanace in july)
I PIF all of my accounts -
My Ex is 90 points higher than when I opened my account 6 month ago.

I am good enough for a Green but not a CLI?

I got my free 30K miles and my AF down to $30 - I guess it is going in the SD utill CLI-
As TheCynicalOne said- it does not matter how much you out though it- then it's just not worth the effort -

Maybe I need to go down to the local Amex call center and buy some people some beers. (hint)

END RANT-
