My First Pre-Approval Mailing in at Least a Decade!

Hello all...well, I just got a pre-approved mailing from First National Bank of Omaha's Amex Card. I am firmly in the garden because of inquiries until January, 2014 but I am happy to finally see an offer, even if it is from a bank with which I am not entirely familiar. I guess now comes the internal fight to stay in the garden as more offers hopefully arrive...LOL!

I noticee you have the same garden date to step out next year, I'm going for BCE / SW RR. Which card(s) are on your radar??

It's nice to be pursued, but better to stick with plan.  Enjoy the feeling of being wooed.

Wow...yeah, the exact same date! Good luck to us both!!! I'm apping for the BCP first, and then after the 61-day 3x cli I will app for the CSP or perhaps the regular Sapphire.

I'm on the fence about either the SW RR or CSP. I only want 2 new card and the BCE is one of them. We'll have to make a thread on that day and post results!!! Smiley Happy

Re: My First Pre-Approval Mailing in at Least a Decade!

I know how I felt when I got my first preapproval this year after it not happening since the late 80's.  I jumped at it and was happy I did as it set my new high limit of $8000.  I don't know how this company will ever make any money off of me as they have given me $300 in rewards so far.  This amounts to 10% of what I have spent on the card.  Well thanks Compass!

I think if I got the one you got I would seriously consider stepping out of the garden, but only for a moment.  I have heard they give good CLIs and that would be the biggest temptation.  I do however want to stay there until January also so I can try and get the Delta Amex card!  I think this would be more worthwhile for me than that card.  I am pretty certain with that card I would be able to get a free international flight with the points I already have at Delta!  I am starting to love frequent flyer miles.  I enroll in everything that will ad to them on my accounts.  I figure even though I get rewards on a card, adding it to the dining programs is still a plus!

Welcome to the forum, but weigh your options carefully.

It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.....
Always follow these rules: Only take a HP for a new account. Always use the best rewards card for that reward category. Don't close a card unless you know you really should. Never use more than 35% of a credit limit. Recon as much and as best you can. Use the introductory period to the best advantage. Get the signup bonus. Whenever possible PIF or balance transfer so you pay less in interest. Never give an excellent rating when it is actually the norm. Always look for a discount as more is always better.
Always accept candy from strangers because they have the best candy or from people you know have good candy.
