NASA FCU Question

Hi Guys,

I set up my share account with NASA FCU last week.  I received an Email to contact them to obtain my account number.  I needed the account number in order to apply for any credit with them.  I asked the rep if they would do another credit pull for my credit card application and she said no.  So I logged on the web site and completed my application, but stopped to read the disclaimer before pressing submit and the based on the disclaimer it appears that they might pull another report (ive also read rummers that indicate that nasa pulls all three).  So I called in to csr service again and she repeated that they would not do another pull since tthey just pulled a report 4 days ago.  SO I decided to place the application on line (because I did not feel confident that the web app would recognize that they just pulled a report a few days ago).  She advised me that I would be receiving a call from a loan officer w/i the next 2 days.

Does anyone have any recent experience with them.  What type of scores do they look for?  Do youusually instant approve or is it common that you have to wait for a loan officer to call back?

Re: NASA FCU Question

I posted my experience with NASA FCU the other day. Have you faxed your financial info to them? I had to fax financial info for a credit card and my signature loan. I found they to be very quick in responding to my requests for credit. I applied for platinum cc on-line one evening after working hours, faxed my income info, and called the next morning to confirm. I was approved for platinum card for the amount I requested. Subsequently, I applied for a signature loan, faxed the paperwork, signed their agreement faxed me (and faxed back), and the loan amount was in my account within 20 minutes. I have no idea what scores they require. My current EQ is 666. My experience with NASA has been very positive. I can also say the same for Patelco and Justice. As someone has said in the past, NASA ROCKS!

Re: NASA FCU Question

NASA FCU pulled all three of my reports when I oppen my account. Then they pulled reports off of 2 CA again, a week after I opened the account, when I applied for a CC and they turn down my CC request. My scores where pretty good, but had a BK 5 years ago...

Re: NASA FCU Question

They perhaps approve you after 6 years post BK. I filed May 2001. I had no problems, with the exception of CCCU and PenFed. Hell, PenFed denied my request for a checking account. I have checking and savings at BOA and NASA, so I can't figure out the PenFed issue. They gladly accepted my request for a shared account... and my deposits.

What type of papers do you have to send in?
Want to get my papers together in case they take a chance on me.

Re: NASA FCU Question

How do NASA, NAVY Fed, PenFed compare?  Seems like some get approved by one and not the others?

I was declined by CCCU but they pull EX and favor BKs - I have no BK, just high util (until new accts report) - a few lates, no liens, forec.  1 paid ChargeOff from 04 that was paid in full and CCC has cleared/good reporting with EX and TU, but EQ isn't budging with their request!

Re: NASA FCU Question

CCCU and PenFed -> will get the same result. NASA, Patelco and Justice are are VERY Doodah friendly. I filed BK in 2001. No baddies since. Will pull EQ for credit card and share accounts/loans. The latter 3 are very easy to work with.

Re: NASA FCU Question

I got approved for Justice but declined for Nasa and Patelco... of course, I have to send in all the paperwork to get an account going with Justice.  I hope they will take my husband's LES as proof of income, since I worked on total household income.  If I get that set up, they approved me for $5000.  USAA approved me for 2 $5000 cards and a refi of 3 vehicles.  But Nasa, NFCU, and Patelco said NO THANKS.  So did CCCU and PenFed (although I'm writing a letter of reconsideration to PenFed).

In a non-CU situation, Chase has been VERY me-friendly.  They have extended lots of credit to me, as has Citibank.  My only CR worth pulling is EQ, and it's at a low 600 status with nothing bad, but not much of anything to report (a car payment and an old good account) -- and a lot of inquiries.  TU and EX are still messy, in the 500s.

If it makes a difference, I'm in Georgia.  I know sometimes different areas pull different CRs.
