Currently have 3 AMEX cards. Green and BCP for personal and Business Gold for Business. My current Fico is EQ 794/TU 814/EX 730. The Experian has 3 HP's in the past 6 weeks for the AMEX cards. My cards have a MSD of 1987.
I need a good Visa card. I was turned down by merchants twice with my AMEX in the past week alone. I was thinking of the Chase Sapphire. Not the preferred. I want a no fee card to back up my AMEX cards. I am an AU on two of my wife's Visa cards, but prefer to have my own. I am a little concerned because of the EX 3 hard pulls and the 730. Nothing is late but there is an old collection account for about $500 that was paid years ago. It is due to drop off next summer.
I don't need alot of cards, just one good Visa for now. What are your thoughts? I am a little hesitant with the hard pulls from AMEX recently. I did a pre-qual on the Chase website and they recommended the sapphire preferred.
What would you do? Travel points and cash back is not a priority. Just a good card so I don't get stuck with only an AMEX and the merchant says no thanks.
I would go with the CSP, I know you are thinking about the plain CS card, but the CSP comes with 40,000 Pts with 3k spend, and the AF waived the first year, you can PC at the end of a year to a CS card, and have a 40,000 pts for you trouble which is worth a minimum of $400 much more if used for travel and/or converted ot other programs.

Also a good idea
Yes, pre-qualified for CSP. No mention of just the CS. The Slate was listed, but i don't carry any balances that I would transfer. Any other card recommendations? Please no Cap 1's.
The city double cash looks nice. but thats a master card. What dont you like about the CSP and then down grade before the AF kicks in? I dont think chase does pre quals for CS.
