Where is this offer posted?

It's a benefit available on the Flagship card only

If there is one bank I wish I didn't burn, its NFCU. I had to include them in my BK13 and I was keeping up with my accounts with them.  I thought about making them whole again, but the amount discharged is way too much for me to consider reasonable.

Wow, this is very upsetting.  I seriously had no idea that Prime Membership is taxed.  That really sux.  I don't suppose NFCU credits the tax?

I don't recall them taxing it in the past, and I think it's new.  Mine is due March 1st, and I paused it due to the continual rate raises along with the need to add tax to it as well.  The additional monthly fee for ad free viewing put the nail in the coffin for me.  I doubt I ever go back to Prime unless they smarten up.  The content is definitely not worth it, and free shipping is null if you put together an order over $25.

Well I just check my prime history since I used to have the college prime and then move over to the normal. For me in Michigan, they have taxed every single transaction.

$139 + 6% = 147.34 (normal)

Last Student version was 69 (used to be 59 in previous years) + 6% = 73.14  (previous years 62.54)

The good old days.  I also started with the college version a long time ago.

Re: NFCU Amazon Prime Credit

I started with the student version as a grown adult some 20+ years out of college.  I just found a  .edu email I could use.  But that could only last 4-5 years.  Smiley Sad

At the risk of taking this thread off-topic, Amazon started charging sales tax on the Prime fee a few years ago.  Here's a link to a list of the states where it's taxable:  https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=202036230

Notably, last year I was not charged sales tax on Prime with a Georgia billing address, however now GA is on the list as well so I don't know if this is a recent change or just bad info.  Since I know from past experience that Alabama definitely charges sales tax I'm going to take my chances and leave my old GA billing address to see if I get lucky.

For the curious, I have an old Serve card (grandfathered, no fee with any DD) that still has my old GA address.  I've kept this on file with Amazon as the payment method for Prime along with my gift card balance.  As long as the gift card balance is enough to cover the fee (whatever it is) the card won't be charged, but they use that card's billing address for determining the sales tax (or at least they have in past years).

Back on-topic, if I knew the 'multi-year' benefit was going to stick around I'd consider getting rid of a NFCU card to make room for a Flagship, but as things are I'm maxed out with three cards so I don't get to play. Smiley Frustrated

I'll also add that I use the free shipping benefit often, but as others have mentioned with a little planning that wouldn't matter.  The only other consideration I have is my father is on my account, and the account is one of the old ones where you could have up to five people/email addresses without sharing billing info with each other.  If I cancel there's no way to get it back if I change my mind later (not that I would be concerned with my dad having access to my payment methods, but it's working well the way it is now).

Re: NFCU Amazon Prime Credit

I got rid of Amazon Prime and the Chase Amazon Prime card years ago and picked up the Affinity FCU Cash Rewards. The Cash Rewards has been significantly nerfed, but I still enjoy 5% cash back on Amazon (and bookstores) without having Amazon Prime.

Re: NFCU Amazon Prime Credit

Navy's verbiage doesnt disqualify anyone from getting multiple credits. It only promises a promo credit for that year. And then the next year, a "new" promo with the same credit usually rolls around.

IMO it is so they can retain the option to stop or modify the credit without changing terms.
