NFCU Card Choice

Hello everyone!  I am a longtime lurker and I decided to reach out for advice. I am currently planning on applying for either the More Rewards AMEX or the Cash Rewards Visa. I do plan to apply for the opposite card at 91/3.  But im having a hard time deciding which card to go for first. Also, of note this will be my first NFCU card. I tried searching for similar threads and I read through some of them but none were able to answer my conundrum.  Thank you in advance. My newest HP is 10 months old I think and I believe my AAoA is 7yrs 10mo.  My scores are 700 pretty much across the board.

Whichever card you want with the bigger limit should be second.

Welcome aboard.

Both are good cards and decent SUB Sign Up Bonus. Typically, the 2nd card should yield a higher starting limit. So take that into consideration. You can also call into CSR to find out if you have any prequals to gauge your eligibility.

You did not mention it but do not get the Flagship as a first card. That has a higher requirement. $5K minimum starting limit.

Re: NFCU Card Choice

Welcome! We were faced with the choice recently and we went with the More Rewards card, but it fit our spend better. Both cards have the same underwriting, so neither one should be harder to get than the other.
You basically have decide what better fits your spend, your needs, and which type of card you want/need. If you buy a lot groceries, eat out a lot, and commute (spend a lot of gas) - the 3% More Rewards on those categories Is pretty good. The cashRewards is 1.5% cashback on everything though, and If the bulk of your spend is not on the categories listed above, it may be the better option for you. The cashRewards is available as a Visa or a Mastercard, and because of that, it is accepted at more places that the More Rewards American Express.

It really boils down what rewards structure fits you better and which card Network you can bring it from the most.

Good luck on whichever you decide!
