I currently have the Flagship Visa (49k) and the NFCU mastercard at 31k (dont carry this one). I know I am at the max credit line issued by NFCU, but would really like to have more credit line on the Flagship. I was thinking, maybe a month or so before the Flagship comes eligble for a CLI, to reduce the credit line of the Mastercard by 8k then when the Flagship comes due for a CLI, to request the 8K on the Flagship.
I know NFCU doesnt do reallocations, but, wonder if anyone has successfully done something like this.
You might get more traction if you asked to get your question merged into the ongoing NFCU master thread https://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Card-Applications/Navy-Federal-Datapoints-Thread-for-Members... but I'm just thinking out loud.
My thought is that as a long term play what you're asking for is probably doable but it would take a lot longer than 1 month for you to start recapturing some of the credit limit you relinquished in the first place.
@MarkintheHV Just give them a call and ask them to reallocate some of your other line to your flagship to accommodate a large balance transfer you wish to do soon after. Worked for me, of course you won't need to do a balance transfer.
I was thinking the same thing... I know it may take some time to get a $50k-$80k card, but this game is a marthon not a race.
@MarkintheHV Exactly what TryItAgain said. Just make sure that you let them know that you have a large balance transfer you want to make eventually. If you get a customer service rep that does not want to do it, just call back again in the next day and you'll eventually get someone to help you do it. But hopefully they'll do it the first time around🤣
I called Navy Federal and explained to them that I would like to reallocate my credit lines. I told the lady who was submitting the request that due to the credit line, that I was putting all my spend on Amex, but, would like to put it all on Navy. She submitted the request yesterday, and today, I get a call telling me that my credit line had been reallocated as per my request.
I just didnt feel comfortable telling them about an upcoming balance transfer since I pay in full each month and my balance across all credit cards for the month is about $50.
Congrats, unless they changed their policy you got lucky 😉.
I feel like I got lucky New CL is 69K

Congrats !
I want to be this lucky!
I've got $33K each on my Flagship and my Platinum. It'd be hard to give up the APR on the Plainum but.....
