Re: NFCU Flagship Rewards VS Cash Rewards
That depends on your spend and alternative cards.
Some people really like Flagship but I don't see anything special about it if you're PCing. For me, the appeal of the card would be almost entirely in the $500 or $600 SUB on a new account.
Business use: Amex Bus. Plat., BBP, Lowes Amex AU, CFU AU
Perks: Delta Plat., United Explorer, IHG49, Hyatt, "Old SPG"
Mostly SD: Freedom Flex, Freedom, Arrival
Upgrade/Downgrade games: ED, BCE
SUB chasing: AA Platinum Select

Re: NFCU Flagship Rewards VS Cash Rewards
It would depend on which card would net you more rewards with the spend you'd put through it, taking Flagship's AF into account. Basically, if +1.5% on what they categorize as travel and +0.5% on anything else you'd put through the card comes to > $49/year, then Flagship would get your more rewards, otherwise not. (I don't think the Flagship has higher cpp redemption rates through travel partners or anything like that, but I could be mistaken.) The Cash Rewards also has more flexibility in cash back redemption, if that matters to you.

Re: NFCU Flagship Rewards VS Cash Rewards
Without the high signup bonus on the Flagship, the Cash Rewards is the better card. It's a mistake to product change to the Flagship. You need that signup bonus to pay for the annual fee.
Sock Drawer: PenFed Promise • NFCU cashRewards • Chase Sapphire Preferred • Chase Freedom Unlimited • United Explorer • UNFCU Azure

Re: NFCU Flagship Rewards VS Cash Rewards
I can't speak much about the Cash Rewards, but I know that I'm pretty happy with the Flagship. If you have Amazon, then the Flagship statement credit to renew your Prime membership more than pays for the AF. Add in the 0.5% CB increase over the Cash Rewards and Flagship is a clear winner.

For me, Global Entry Fee Credit alone is already worth 2 years of annual fee (granted cant use it right now..lol) Much better than my Amex Gold card (cancelled) and my Amex Platinum (also Cancelled).

You get 3x the points on travel purchases and 2x on everything else - and TSA precheck fees waived.
Also, with the Flagship Card, NavyFederal is offering free prime membership for one year (give or take a $120 value).
With the Cash Rewards, you get 1.5% cashback on everything and none of the above.
Totally worth the $49 annual fee IMO.
