For NFCU credit card holders, how long did you wait to ask for a CLI ?
6 months from opening your credit card? 9 months etc?
Just curious
i'm at 4 months and made a sizeable payment from checking that was on "hold" because of the amount. the rep said they would release the hold since it came from an nfcu account it should never have been given that status. he also said he could do a temp cli in the amount of the payment, i said no thanks.
when i got to work and saw the available credit was right, but the cl had been raised by the payment amount. i called back and asked what gives i didn't want a temp cli. this rep said in order to make my payment available they had to do it. i asked about the possibilty about making permanent, she said not with out a hard inq. i declined. so short answer, longer than 4 months for the initial cli at least.
Opened my card in July 2008 as an nRewards with a $1,000 limit, requested a CLI in January 2009 to $3,000 and they increased it to $2,500. Just requested another CLI in March 2009 to $5,000, a few days ago, and they increased it to $5,000.
I usually only make a few charges each month, never going above 10% utilization and PIF always (I used the automatic payment from my Navy Federal checking each month).
Right now they've increased their credit card standards. If you're not above 660, you probably won't get an increase, or at least not a substantial one.
Thanks for answering everyone.
I just got approved for a 6k CL and the APR is a bit high for my taste, 16%.
I just wished I would've gotten a CL over 10k like some other posts I've read.
I guess I'll just have to be good to NFCU and my card and will ask for a CLI in about six months.
Ahh the waiting is already killing me.
