I sent a SM to NFCU about a PC from nRewards to cashRewards. The response said I would get a new card number and my APR would increase from 15.99 to 17.99. Do you think this will result in a new trade line?? Will I lose the one year of history on my current card? It was a secured that just graduated. Thanks!

You won't lose that history
I just converted my nrewards to a Flagship. I asked that question directly and CS told me that it will NOT be a new account.
I imagine the same holds for n to cash...
I PC'd about 6 weeks ago to the Flagship from the nRewards, and while my APR did go up due to the better rewards structure, the tradeline just looks like I have had the Flagship the whole time. I've had NFCU since October of last year.
Thanks for all the info! I certainly don't want to lose any of my history. My AAoA wouldn't be able to handle it.

Have you considered applying for the cashRewards instead of a PC, it's possible you'll get a better interest rate based on your updated score and if want to make this your prime card then ask to transfer a certain amount from your nRewards card to your new cashRewards? Maybe CA will chime in,
You can apply for a second card and ask them to reallocate some of the CL on your 1st card to open the new one

I don't need any more new cards. I just opened a Discover IT and Chase Amazon. I have too many inquiries as it is. I rather just PC this to a card I wouldn't mind using.
