NFCU Question

I'm sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum. I wasn't sure where this would go so please feel free to move it.

I have a savings account with NFCU and with the savings account I got the CUCard with is a ATM/Debit card. It does not have the Visa/Mastercard Logo.

Does anyone know if you can use this type of card or the CUCard at store as a POS transaction (debit transaction). I checked Walmart and their website said yes and NFCU said yes but when I actually called Walmart they were a little confused and basically just said you can use a debit card but not a ATM card because that's only for ATMs. This is what they told me after being transferred to 4 different people.

Thanks in advance

Re: NFCU Question

Thanks so much! Yea I know it works at the ATM I was just wondering if it would work as a POS transaction at the register. Online Walmart states it accepts debit/ATM cards for purchases and when I called navy they said any merchant (besides restaurants) who accept visa should accept the CUCard even though it's just a ATM/Debit card.

Why don't you get a checking with them?  It costs nothing, you'll get a Visa debit card and you can instantly transfer money from savings to checking if you need it.  And you need the checking if you ever want a LOC

Re: NFCU Question

Yes, it should work with the PIN as a POS card. In fact, until a couple of years ago, the NFCU Visa debit cards were set to not work with the PIN for POS, so you needed to get the one without the Visa logo to buy stuff at places like Aldi that only took PIN Debit. They would issue both for checking accounts on request.

When will I see my cloc on my online banking account? How long will it take to receive my signature Visa? How long does it take to start reporting to the cra's?
