NFCU apr questions

Hi,

Was wondering if anyone knows if NFCU does apr reviews? I was approved 3 days ago at 15.65% and am wondering if as my credit profile gets better if anyone has been successful in getting there apr reduced on there NFCU accounts?

I've been with Navy for less than a year, so while I don't have personal experience with this, I'm under the impression that you can have your APR reviewed every 12 months

Re: NFCU apr questions

I can confirm that they require 1 year before they can lower your APR from what a rep told me 3 months into my account....

You can however call and ask a representative if you convert your card to a Platinum MC what your APR would be, they came back and offered me 12.55% or when I was at 15.95 on my CashRewards.. I kept it because I don't carry balances. Smiley Happy

Re: NFCU apr questions

How likely is it NFCU lowers the apr when asked? I have had my card with them for about 3 years (plus accounts with them for 20 years) and would like to lower it from 17.49%.

If your scores have improved since you obtained the card, there is a very good chance that they will lower the APR.  They are pretty consistent with granting APR reductions.  Give them a call.

Re: NFCU apr questions

I ask every 12 months and usually get something, I'm at 10.49 and expect there may be a little more room... Have also dropped DW's over 6 points in 3 years

I sent them an SM and received a 1.5% reduction. Util was around 90%. I wish I would have tried sooner.

Re: NFCU apr questions

I am new to Navy and my wife also just joined. Do they do APR reductions below the advertised range for each card type? My Flagship is at 10.49% and my wife's Platinum is 8.49%, so they are already at the lowest but would be helpful to know whether that's something to ask for in a year. Thanks!
