I have 3 NFCU cards that I was going to try to have the limit transferred to one card (credit limits are 16k, 7.5k, and 7k) There is a zero balance on all the cards so I wouldn't be asking to transfer any balances or anything.
my question is, if I did that and and transferred the total 14.5k over to the 16k card and closed the other two. Would closing those two end up hurting my credit? all three cards were apped around the same time so I don't know if that makes a difference.
As you'll be keeping the total available credit in your profile and you aren't carrying any balances, moving credit to another account and then closing one should not have a negative impact at all. The closed account will continue to report for roughly 10 years so you'll still get that aging benefit. There are mixed messages about people being successful and getting declined from moving limits with NFCU. I did this last year without an issue. All my accounts were satisfactorily aged at the time. You didn't mention "when" you opened yours and while that may not be a consideration in your score, it may in NFCU's decision to accomodate your request. I completed mine using Private Message online. I would suggest you do the same...Good Luck
They may not let you without a BT occurring. Also, I believe the donor cards must be at least a year old before you can take their limit.

Both of these things are true.
