NFCU nRewards /Post charge off weird behavior...Need Advice!

So to preface this post...

Around 2013, I defaulted on one CC's with nfcu (Cashrewards) to the tune of about 13k. The account was eventually charged off but my checking and savings account as well my nRewards card remained open.

The account eventually fell of my CR but like many of us, I was seemingly blacklisted from nfcu. If I tried to do a cli on the nRewards (only had 1k limit) or show interest in any other products, I was hit with the "you have caused NFCU a loss" response.

Recently, however, things have gotten more interesting with the nRewards...

So the card was opened in 2012 and remained in good standing this entire time. Last year, I randomly decided to do a cli (for 1k) for kicks and giggles and surprisingly they approved the increase. So the account sat dormant for another year with a 2k limit but today I decided to do another cli, this time for 6k....

And...it was approved??!

From all the research I've done, the nRewards card is now a secured card (I don't remember if that was the case in 2012) and pretty much once the card hits 2k limit, it is supposed to be upgraded to the CashRewards. I don't know what the ceiling is for the nRewards but the fact that I wasn't immediately hit with the *Loss* response and the limit was approved for 6k, I'm starting to wonder....am I OFF the bad boy list?

I did the prequal for cards, which supposedly has been hit and miss for members, and was prequal'd for every card. From what I remember, if you are blacklisted then the app hits an immediate wall without the hard pull so is it worth attempting app'ing for a new card?? Has anyone ever been taken off the BL without ever repaying the original debt??

feels like a bug with the old nRewards as opposed to being off the blacklist.

you shouldn't be issued credit without paying back 100% of what you caused as a loss to NFCU.

the nfcu pre-qual is pretty meaningless, you can move $1000 from a different account into the share savings and change the result from a secured card only to all of the cards, it's not an indicator of actual underwriting

How on earth did that card not get closed down?! Regardless, congratulations on your CLI!
