Hey guys, appreciate all the great feedback. Just wanted to let you know I just became a member of NFCU. Some DP will be below. Just started new checking account but question is when should I app and for what CC? A goal card will be the Flagship. Thank you for your reply in advance as I wanna be debt free (in other words use credit smartly, and have credit work for me, rather than me work for them lol)

Congratulations on your membership! You should apply when you need credit. Do you need credit?
1st card is anything but the Flagship. Flagship should be your 2nd card. It has a $5,000 minimum starting limit.
@AllZero Yes I could use more credit because I want to do some BT and take advantage of lower interest rate.
As an FYI I got approved for BBVA clearpoints $4200 SL in Feb 2020 and I'm use that and either NFCU card or Amex card to split up some BTs
If you want to do a BT, go for the Platinum. 0% for 12 months and NFCU doesn't charge BT fees.

Welcome to The Navy Family!
@Saeren I'm just wondering as being a new member if I should try for another card and wait for the 91/3 to app for flagship or Platinum?

I would go for the Platinum, as suggested ..Flagship is not the 1st card you want to go after. IMHO

Platinum is one of the easiest cards to get. I would get it first since you can use the BT period and then get Flagship at 91/3.

All their cards are great. It's up to you to determine which one fits your spend and your needs. If you need BT, then as mentioned up thread Platinum has that offer.

Welcome to the Navy family. First card rarely starts with higher limit. So get a card that will provide use, but not necessarily BT to start. The Plat could provide more BT power with CLI at 3/91.
Id also be cautious with BT on Amex right now. If it's first and new.
