Navy APR Reduction

My Platinum card, a 3rd card, when approved kind of squeezed in under the approval wire with a low SL of 2800 and a mediocre APR of 14.49. This is supposed to be the "if you ever need to carry a balance" card with the really low FCU APR. Mine is higher than on my Flagship.

Account hit 12 months old earlier this week so I messaged Navy to see what they'd do. How about dropping APR from 14.49 to 7.49?

Even if you're a "I never carry a balance person" don't forget to ask. It doesn't hurt to have a low APR, just in case.

Re: Navy APR Reduction

Congrats!

I'm up for a reduction this week on my cashRewards (my Platinum is already lowest) but I think I may hold off til my BK is gone just to make sure I get the lowest. I would be irritated if they dropped me like 2% down to 14% just because I didn't wait a few more months.

Right? Even a "bad" Navy APR is good by comparison.

I called it mediocre because the card APR range is from 7.49 to 18.00, so the 14.49 I got approved for originally was pretty "meh." But now that I'm at 7.49 -- it's my lowest. Gotta love Navy!

Re: Navy APR Reduction

Yeah, what i love about Navy is when you are up for me redux, they can drop you all the way to best rate in one shot unlike lets say Disco or Citi where they may offer a couple points but make you really work for it( ie multiple apr redux requests)Smiley Wink

Re: Navy APR Reduction

That's a great everyday credit card APR. Congratulations.

If I needed to carry a balance on a credit card, I would probably have two Navy cards that earned rewards and then use one of their recurring 0% or 1.99% balance transfer options. This eliminates the need for the 7.49% card. Just my two cents.

After hearing baout this in another post I thought about asking too, then realized that I already had their lowest rate. lol

So i try to focus on Amex and Disco reductions.
