Are you saying you were already at 5/24 when you applied for the card?
I was, but in your case seeing how you'll be good to go in a couple of months, I would wait
It's really not worth a denial with so little time left
Move some of the limit to make it usable, app in Feb when you're in the clear
Would applying for a CLI now be problematic for me because I'm at 5/24?
No, but Chase CLI requests are unpredictable at best. You could get a lot, or close to nothing.
I would not take HP with iffy chances 60 days away from the actual app.
That's even though the app that's 60 days away will be for a completely different card?
Sounds like you want to hear that it's a good idea lol
If it means that much to you, go for it
how long have you had your chase cards for and how much do you use them? did you update your income on the portal? if you use the heck out of the fu for a while and get your total util to 1-2% they might auto you or it will really help your chances of what they will give you if you ask for a cli. chase = history, income and use. you have to use the card and demonstrate the limit is not enough imo. in my experience they are incredible with clis but I focus nearly all of my use on chase cards. opening a new account and the resulting aaoa hit makes no sense to me but 31 flavors. its a hp, not the end of the world to find out the answer but get your util low and your income updated before you do would be my advice. overall I also pay the day after the cut. great lender once you are in. good idea getting the ink, I have them all and use them all

lol no. Honestly, I actually don't want to do it because I'm concerned that card is in a low bucket, and it'll be a waste. Unfortunately, it's looking like my best option may be to reallocate some of my limit from the CSR.

I've had the CFU for coming up on 2 years. The CSR is new. It hasn't quite hit a month old yet. I use the CFU, but not too heavily, due to it not being very useful up until recently (when I got the CSR). I do have my income updated as well. I used to use it heavily when it was at $500, and would put thousands through it each month. It took until the card was a year and a half old for them to auto CLI me to $1000. At that point, I just left recurring charges on the card, and stopped using it heavily. As far as AAoA, I'm not worried about that so much as I am concerned about setting myself up in the best position possible. Long story short, I'm trying to make sure I maximize the value of my purchases as much as possible.
You have a new card, you are asking for CLI , followed by another new card, all from the same issuer in less than 3 months.
Good luck
Often with Chase, CLIs are indeed quite unpredictable. I’ve had my Freedom for 12 years next month. Use it all the time. Never had a CLI. It started life at $3,000 and would still be there had I not just moved other credit lines around. I asked for a CLI on 31/12/2016 and was denied. I immediately applied for a CSP and was granted a $12,000 starting line. Makes zero sense. My APRs with Chase have always been the lowest available but the credit lines haven’t really been there.
People can be approved for Chase cards over 5/24 with prequalifications. I’d take the advice to just move some credit line over to it for now and not potentially waste one or more HPs.

Were you able to eventually replace the credit line you moved over on the original card, to get it back to at least it's original limit?
Yes. I opened a Slate a few months later and moved $6200 from CSP to Slate and another $800 to my Freedom to make it a round $5,000. (I also previously had an older Chase card that they changed to a Slate, closed it and moved the $1200 line to my Freedom.) Once the balance transfer was paid off, I had a useless $9700 Slate so I moved $9000 (didn’t want the $700) back to the CSP making it a $14,000 card and did a product change to CSR. The phone calls to move credit lines lasted fewer than 5 minutes.

^^^ gosh such subtle advice lol but you are 100% right, asking for stuff from chase has to be well timed or else, they are not know as the kings of aa for nothing. 2 years ago chase was very different, shortly after the csr ended its 100k run they really started to tighen up and in ~11/17 that is when all the shutdowns started to happen. eveyones profile is different, testing ones resolve esp if one has a lot of ur at stake is foolish to me but I am probably in the minoroity
