A little background info: I've had this card since 03/11 with a dismal $300 limit. When I applied I was a student, and my income was relatively low. Never missed a payment, always paid well over minimum payment. Fast forward to January of this year. After paying off the balance in full every month for a few months, I requested a CLI. I was denied, assuming because my other CC balance was relatively high. My Chase card has a $2300 CL and is now reports <9% every month. Credit score at the time was 675-700.
My Equifax score is now a 768, and I have a much better job. My occupation is technically an assembler, but not a typical assembly line worker. I do very specialized assembly, debug, and run-off on manufacturing machines that can cost close to $1M per machine. Can anyone think of a different title I could use other than "Assembler" when talking to the USAA Credit risk department? I don't want them thinking I have a volatile position. Should I mention my higher income and excellent credit history and score to help my cause? Is asking for a $2500 limit reaching for the stars? I was going to mention if I just buy gas using their card my UTL on the card would jump from 0% to over 25%.

Income is relative to your debt load, but without knowing where you stand it would be hard to guide you. I have asked for my USAA increase online. If those are your true FICO scores I would guess you would fare better by apping for a NEW card as I feel this is how USAA plays the game........If your income has risen by a decent amount and USAA doesn't wanna play ball you should have no problem getting a decent limit somewhere else.
USAA is a hard one. I tried to increase my CL 2 months ago when my score was 806 with no baddies at all at that time. They denied me for I had balances on several accounts. Wasted a HP!
Pulled my Equifax score yesterday on this site, very happy with that number as I wasn't expecting it. If they're going to be a pain in my butt, I'll just tell them I'll be looking elsewhere. I won't have a $300 neutered card much longer either way.
I have not tried for an increase in some time, but the first time I did they said no go. Applied for a new card with them 4k......just saying if I was gonna waste a pull on them it would be for a new card with them.
I dont know if this will help but this is what i did
at the time of application my Utilization was 0% with a fico of 704 i was given 7k world master card and 6k platinum after 6 months i asked for increase again i made sure my Utilization was 0% i was granted increase 7k to 13K on my master and 6k to 11k on my platinum 2 weeks ago i hit my one year again utilization was at 0% master card was increased to 21k and platinum increased to 20k all my increase i did via secured message.
With your scores, why not just apply for a new credit card with USAA or some other bank. I'm sure you would get a higher limit than what you have.
You can have mulitple cards with USAA, Chase, Citibank.
