Hello, My FICO score has increased 132 points in three months!!! I finally hit the 7 year mark and all negatives have dropped off except one(will drop off in may,2011). I currently have 4 credit cards that have always been paid on time.
HSBC 1,350 Limit ....3.4 years old
Orchard bank 800 limit 3.4 years old
capital one 750 limit 8 months old Experian: 732
express dept. Store 250 limit 1 year old Equifax:709 ( has a collection that will drop off on may 2011)
Student loans..In deferment....$25,000 Tansunion:748
I keep my credit utilization around 10%
I charge $1,800 a month and pay off everything except a small amount ( to leave a balance)
Average of 5 inquiries on each CB(most recent 6 months)
I need some tips on a CC company that are known to give a decent credit limit(3000 min.).....rewards(prefer airline)
I have done about 50 hours in research to educate myself about credit and just need a heads up on a good company that will say YES!!!
I think your experian score (which is what they will probably pull) is high enough to qualify for an american express blue sky credit card. Probably a decent chance of getting at least a 3000 limit as well.
Hi, welcome to the forums!
Can I ask where you got the Experian score? EX hasn't allowed consumers to buy and view our own scores since Feb 2009. Unless you got this score from a mortgage lender or from a credit union called PSECU, I don't think it's a FICO, but a FAKO instead.
And if you got your other two scores from the same source, they're all FAKO's. Your real FICO scores might well be higher or lower.
American Express pulls Experian reports, but it doesn't use your EX FICO. They have their own inhouse scoring system. EX FICO's can be a guide (at least, back when we could see them), but many people have been turned down for AmEx cards with what they thought were perfectly good scores, but there was something on the report that AmEx didn't like.
My experian(plus score) is from experian. My TU and EQ are from MY FICO
I have done hours and hours of research on the different reward cards available. My 1st choice would be:
1. Continental airlines one pass plus
2. Escape by discover
3 United mileage plus signature
4 American express blue
5. Citi dividend platinum select
I am trying to avoiding excessive inquiries!! Does anyone know how quickly an inquiry can show up? for instance, I apply to 3 CC companies in a 30 minute period trying to get instant approval. Hopefully it will not happen.
Thanks in advance on helping me out!!!!
Inquiries for online apps show up as soon as you apply. I've applied and pulled my report 5 minutes later to see it on there.
Just a notation that some INQ's when you apply will be on only 1 report and some companies will put the INQ on 2 or more reports.
I am very pleased to announce that I applied for a Chase Freedom, Amex Blue, and citi forward card.............................DRUM ROLL PLEAS
But I might not activate the chase card due to the fact that it was for 1000!! I'm trying to go up and not down. I am so pleased to see that all my hard work has paid off!! My baddies hit the 7 year drop off, I cleaned up my report. And I used 3 credit cards..Orchard bank, household bank, and capital one.
I wrote letters to 3 CC companies that were on my report as "paid for less" or "settled" and asked if they would kindly delete the account so that I could look into buying a house. ALL THREE DELETED!!!!! I have found that writing letters to the companies is much more affective than disputing with agency. I owned it and asked for help! Please keep in mind that these debts were paid and had been on my report for about 5 years.
Goodbye orchard bank/hsbc.....you were good to me and got me where I am today!!
My experience score at time of application was 729 with perfect history.Utilization was 9% average account age 3.2 years. 6 inquiries and newest account 7 months old. Feel free to ask me questions!! I want to help the next person.

First of all, congratulations on being approved for all three cards. That is excellent!
@Speaking to HTSUs point, your Experian Plus score is a FAKO. This means that it doesn't represent the credit score that a lender or most credit card companies would use because it does not use the FICO credit scoring model. The easiest way to get the real EX score is joining PSECU @ psecu.com. It is $26.00 for most people to join. You'll need to have a checking account or a credit product such as a credit card or other loan.

Do realize that you've already taken the hit for the account. Even if you close it now, it will probably stay on your reports for 10 years. And not activating doesn't close the account, so be aware of that.
The Freedom card isn't what it used to be, but if they give you the 5% quarterly stuff, you can get some good deals out of it. I'd advise keeping it open and using it.
eta: oops, almost forgot, congratulations on the clean-up work and new credit profile!
