I'm trying to go up and not down...Do realize that you've already taken the hit for the account. Even if you close it now, it will probably stay on your reports for 10 years. And not activating doesn't close the account, so be aware of that.
The Freedom card isn't what it used to be, but if they give you the 5% quarterly stuff, you can get some good deals out of it. I'd advise keeping it open and using it.
eta: oops, almost forgot, congratulations on the clean-up work and new credit profile!

Congrats

Approved for all 3 !!!!! MOMMY WOW..I'm a big boy now!!!!
But I might not activate the chase card due to the fact that it was for 1000!! I'm trying to go up and not down. I am so pleased to see that all my hard work has paid off!! My baddies hit the 7 year drop off, I cleaned up my report. And I used 3 credit cards..Orchard bank, household bank, and capital one.
I wrote letters to 3 CC companies that were on my report as "paid for less" or "settled" and asked if they would kindly delete the account so that I could look into buying a house. ALL THREE DELETED!!!!! I have found that writing letters to the companies is much more affective than disputing with agency. I owned it and asked for help! Please keep in mind that these debts were paid and had been on my report for about 5 years.
Goodbye orchard bank/hsbc.....you were good to me and got me where I am today!!
My experience score at time of application was 729 with perfect history.Utilization was 9% average account age 3.2 years. 6 inquiries and newest account 7 months old. Feel free to ask me questions!! I want to help the next person.

Elegant approval spree you've got there! Nice job on rebuilding. What were the other CL's and the APR's?
Amex 2K 15.99%, citi2,300 15.99%, chase 1k 17%(might be lower)), BoA 1k 16%.....all with 0% for 6-12 months

Not too shabby. Did Amex Blue lower the tiers for the Blue? When I applied the lowest APR was 17.24%

AMEX BLUE CASH is 17.24, 19.24, 21.24
AMEX BLUE is 15.24, 17.24, 19.24
ahhh...got it...
Just wanted to let everyone know that AMEX blue originally approved me at the 15%apr and when I recieved my card today it was 19%apr. Maybe that credit card spree backfired in a small way!! Oh well IM happy with the card!
what exactly are tiers? Is that based on your credit score? Can the apr be lowered if you were approved in the tier 2 criteria? My Blue Cash is 19.24, I think that is really high..
redwalker, what were the limits on the cards you received if you don't mind writing them here?
Congrats! I want the cards you now have. ![]()
