So we have here one of the truly rare situations these days where I couldn't find an answer (or even a discussion), about it anywhere on the internet. I applied for Capital One's Savor card yesterday morning, and got the classic "we'll let ya know" response. I called last night to check and the app was still pending. I called again today and it still said pending, so I decided to get a hold of a live rep in the apps dep't. The rep told me they couldn't process the app and put it on pause, apparently because they couldn't access my EX report. I had gotten the Credit Karma alert about the HP on my TR & EQ immediately after applying, so I thought I was all good, but I had totally forgotten ever freezing my EX report since I never use or need it.
I asked the Cap1 rep if it would be okay for me to just call and unfreeze my EX report, and call Cap1 right back to continue processing my app. He said I could definitely do that and they would indeed resume processing the app, HOWEVER he then said I should be aware that Cap1 can, and very well could, pull my TR and EQ reports AGAIN (i.e., 2 EQ, 2 TR, and 1 EX HPs on one **bleep** app). I asked him why in the world they couldn't just use the same TR and EQ reports that they literally had just pulled, and after a long delay for him talking to his manager, his response was that neither he nor his manager knew the answer one way or the other.
I've now successfully unfrozen my EQ, but haven't called Cap1 back to re-run the app because I'm still thinking about it. What would y'all do here? I sure as hell don't want FIVE (5!) HPs for one stupid app, but I also kind of don't want to have entirely wasted 2 HPs just to not get the card at all. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!
Couldn't get an answer from Cap1, or find an answer online, as to why exactly they would need to re-pull reports that they'd just pulled within the past 24 hours.
Is there any particular Cap1 department I should try to get a hold of, which may be particularly useful in this situation?
Is there any particular plea or suggestion I can/should make to Cap1?
If there's simply no way whatsoever around the fact they'd need to re-pull, do I suck up the 2 pointless HPs and move on, or let them not be in vein by resubmitting and taking the duplicate HPs?
If I do resubmit the app, could I perhaps dispute the duplicate HPs with TR and EQ as inadvertant?
@JohnnyGaddar
Cap one CSR really can't do much of anything, they seem to read off a script and when they don't know that's basically what they tell you.
Personally I would not want to risk 5 HPS for a cap one card But I understand feeling like you already wasted 2.
There are posts on this forum with the same situation. Can't remember which report can be frozen, but they can definitely process with just 2.
