Needing Advice...

Just a short intro I am currently attending college as a full time student and I also work full time. I was recently accepted to a 4 year university in downtown Chicago (transferred from a 2 year after getting AA) but I live about an hour away and will be commuting 4 days a week. I have the CSP and the Amex PRG and I am currently trying to decide which one would benefit me most as I am not keeping both.

I can't give you exact numbers at the moment but,

I will be commuting 4 days a week (an hour 1 way).

I eat out A LOT because I'm always on the run but I do try to cook on my days off.

The annual fees aren't really an issue for me. I'm all about benefits, I will pay the money if its worth it.

As for travel I plan to take a trip to my hometown on the holidays but nothing to extreme yet until my school schedule settles down. I get 13 days out of a year for vacation and any remaining (hours) just continues to roll-over so I'm saving for a trip to Hawaii in the future.

I would appreciate any experiences you may want to share or suggestions you may have.

Keep the CSP and apply for the Freedom. They are the beast when paired together, especially in our case.

Re: Needing Advice...

What this break down to is - Are you traveling? Both those cards are heavy travel cards. If you dont fly, then neither card is going to do anything special. Ive looked over both rewards programs, and its hard for me to decide between the two. I wish I could give better advice, but I think the other poster is right. Apply for the Chase Freedom and close the AMEX.

Re: Needing Advice...

I currently have the FU as category spending didn't really work for me. I'm aware that both are travel cards and I honestly can't do any major traveling at the moment but I would like to have one for future travels even though some may think it seems a bit unrealistic. When I first found out about myFico it is was all about how many credit cards I could apply and be approved for and trying to obtain the most "prestigous" credit cards, however after reading more over the years my thinking has changed a lot. In the end I want a setup that can cover my sending habits and needs whithout carrying 7 cards to do it. I learned the hard way that I am not someone who can handle that many.
