I got my capital one platinum card at 5k SL 6 months ago or well coming up on month 6. I did PC to the venture one card. Is that why I didn't receive credit steps? Like what's going on lol
That sounds like the reason. I'd confirm sign cap one
Did they specifically tell you you were enrolled in credit steps when you first applied/received your card? They usually tell you when you first apply/get your card if you're enrolled.
I originally had the Platinum and PC'ed to the Quicksilver after 100 days. I still received the credit steps, so I don't think it's due to your PC.
Did your card start out at $5K? I think the credit steps program is for low starting credit limits ($300 or $500). Maybe your card started out too good for credit steps. If I remember properly the credit strep program is mentioned somewhere in the paperwork when you open the card or maybe on the first statement. You could also call Cap1 and ask them.

The credit steps program can still be targeted for cards >$3K from what I've seen. But, as you mentioned, there would've been some information with the card (and during the initial approval) whether the card was automatically assigned to the credit steps program.
@Anonymous514 - sounds like your card wasn't included in the program from the get-go. I'm sure Capital One decides who is targeted for it 🤷♂️

As mentioned elsewhere, credit steps is usually for cards with starting limits like $300 to $500. Then they get a CLI to $700 where they remain bucketed for all eternity. Consider yourself to have won a jackpot. Maybe the fact that you weren't in credit steps will mean you can grow this card to $25K or more. I have never heard of anyone being bucked at $5000.

Cap 1 is an enigma as far as cli's. they do like spend though. do you use the card a lot or just sock drawer it? do you pif each month?
Does Credit Steps still exist? Because I got my Capital One Platinum in May, and there was no mention of the program when I applied. I've seen it referenced elsewhere in the months since, but I was under the impression it was an old program that went away. All I had was the vague statement on their webpage that I'll "[b]e automatically considered for a higher credit line in as little as 6 months." While my card is 6 months old according to FICO (it aged on the 1st), I'm been waiting for the actual anniversary in a few days to see what happens.
Additional DPs: I also product changed my Platinum to the Quicksilver, just two days ago. Though unlike @Anonymous514, my SL is the bare minimum, $300. I had zero credit history of any kind when I got the card, and only became scorable a couple weeks ago. But due to being added as an AU to another card, my scores are in the upper 700s. And while I put a token spend on the Platinum the first couple months because I was (overly) worried about utilization, I learned that Cap1 likes to see significant usage, so in the last couple months I've been spending well over my CL, paying it off multiple times.
I'm curious to see if I'm bucketed.
