New Amex - How long before I can view my FICO score?

Another question from a new cardholder (still waiting for the card in the mail). How long does it take for your free fico score to become available? I can see the link, but its telling me it's not available. I assume this takes a while for new accounts, as did my discover? Thanks!

Re: New Amex - How long before I can view my FICO score?

I would think the max would be 30 days, but I've had the Delta AmEx for three months now and still get told my FICO score is not available.  My wife got the ED about 1.5 months ago and it works for her.  So unfortunately, YMMV.

As a matter of fact, I chatted with a rep yesterday asking why I can't see my FICO score even though I've had the card for 3 months now.  He gave me the same stock answer that I can pull a report free from freeannualcreditreport.com.  That made me pretty furious, as I explained to him that those free reports DO NOT include free FICO scores.  I know for a fact you have to pay EQ $7.95 to get your FICO score after you pull their credit report for free.

I'm getting less and less impressed with AmEx all the time.

AmEx typically pulls once a month and you'll see it about a week after they pull.

Incidentally, when you get your paperwork with T&C, interest rate, etc, etc., there is a document called "The Price You Pay for Credit" or something similar. Your CS from Experian when they made the decision to extend you credit will be on there.

HTH.

Mine was there literally as soon as I clicked on the link - about 2 minutes after setting up an online account - which was about 10 minutes after being approved on the phone.

It was over a month old, but it was there!

I received my card in the mail yesterday, however there was no credit score or the document you mentioned.

Congrats and welcome.

The documentation comes as a separate mailer (thick envelope) - apologies for not being clear. At least, that's what I recall of the 3 AmEx cards I have. I just got my third one last month, so perhaps it's changed in the last 4 weeks. (Incidentally, you'll continue to get stuff regarding the card a few weeks after. Delta sent me a "Welcome to you new AmEx" guide just last week, about a month after getting their card.)

Also, when I logged in online, I was able to view the FICO for my new card about a week after I applied for it (and before my usual monthly pull - there is usually a one week lag after pull before showing online).
