New Amex plat offer

Just saw a new offer for Amex plat 40k MR points for 3k spend in three months. Of course, the Mercedes Benz plat card is only $25 more and will offer 50k bonus.

Thanks ... I just tweeted to see if they can change my 25K offer to this one!

Re: New Amex plat offer

I keep getting offered (when I login to my account)  Plat with 50K MR for $5K spend.  Doesn't seem particularly generous.

Re: New Amex plat offer

Amex has been getting increasingly aggressive with their 100k offers in the past year, so if your profile warrants a targeted offer then I'd hold off for that.

I don't think 40k is enough to really get excited over.

I dunno. If you would be putting spend on the card anyway 50k sounds like a decent return (not earth shattering), but compared to their normally low signup offers it seems alright. You don't have a charge with amex already? I get told the offer is not available to me due to the cards I have.

More I don't have a use for the benefits, so even though it would net positive after the $200 credit, not enough bang for the buck!

Re: New Amex plat offer

40 is better than 25 which is the offer I took for my Plat card. I did ask for them to change that offer right after I realized I missed the 50k offer by like a day, they said no.

Re: New Amex plat offer

Is it possible to get the signup offer again on amex charge cards if you had one in the past and cancelled? If so, how long do you have to wait after you cancel?

Re: New Amex plat offer

This is being discussed on some other threads.  The current rule is something like 1 year after the exact card and 90 days after having one in the same family.  But there are rumors of Amex switching to a once-per-lifetime model on May 1st.
