New Cards

For those of us who have new cards such as Barneys, JCrew, VS, CapOne,Marathon,Carsons and Discover.....do they report after opening or 30 days later or when you use them?  My west elm has already reported and I opened it AFTER some of the others. Just wondering....anybody have an experiences with them? Thanks for the tips! Smiley Happy Oh, and PB is new too...ordered twice and paid twice...still not reporting....anyone have statement dates as well?

Re: New Cards

It just depends. Some issuers are known to report very quickly (Barclay's reported my Upromise well before the card arrived), others very slowly, and most somewhere in the middle.

In my experience Barclay was by far the quickest. I would say Amex was pretty slow, I remember my BCE not reporting for quite awhile.

There's no set date. It will report at some point after you got approved. It will also depend when your statement cuts as far as ongoing reporting.

I got my Discover 4 years ago so I really don't remember how quickly it reported -- I didn't know or care about such a thing at that point.

Maybe someone can chime in with initial Discover reporting data.

Here's what happened with mine, straight from the Discover website and my creditchecktotal updates:

-DiscoverIT approved 7/24/15

-New Discover account reported to EQ and EX on 8/9/15

-New Discover account reported to TU 8/25/15 (along with the two other cards I opened around the same day)

So EQ and EX reported it in a couple of weeks, TU took over a month for some reason.

Re: New Cards

Re/ Comenity and Comenity Capital Cards, my regular Comenity cards (Sportsman's Guide Visa) reported more quickly than my Comenity Capital cards (Fuel Rewards MC, Total Rewards Visa Sig, and Good Sam/ Camping World Sig Visa.

Sportsman's Guide was on my report within 2 weeks, but Fuel Rewards, Total Rewards and Good Sam Visa took more than a month to report.

Fuel Rewards actually just started reporting on Sept. 3- yesterday -and was opened on July 15, so it took a month and a half for that one.

YMMV but I hope that is helpful.

I love it for general monitoring.  The Experian score and report updates every day, and EQ and TU scores/reports can be updated three times per month.  Their standard price is $29.95/month, but all you have to do is sign up for the $1 7-day trial, call the automated system to cancel, and they'll offer you five years at $14.95/month to stay.  An absolute bargain.

The wife and I want to start applying for a mortgage in a year or so, so I'll monitor creditchecktotal for both of us as we continue to improve our scores.  Once we get ready to app for the mortgage though, I figure it'll be worth the $60 each to get full myFICO reports as they include a dozen or so different versions including the one mortgage lenders use.

I bought one of the three from myFICO for the wife before we went shopping for her car in May, and having that knowledge going in helped us get her a pretty outstanding rate on her car loan when dealing with our credit union and the dealership's finance guy.
