Re: New Chase Bonvoy Bold Visa Signature Card

*Meh* IMO, but I suppose this can work for folks who are under 5/24 and may meet the eligibility requirements:

Eligibility for this product: The product is not available to either:
  • current cardmembers of the Marriott Bonvoy™ Premier credit card (also known as Marriott Rewards® Premier), Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ credit card (also known as Marriott Rewards® Premier Plus), Marriott Bonvoy Bold™ credit card, or
  • previous cardmembers of the Marriott Bonvoy™ Premier credit card (also known as Marriott Rewards® Premier), Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ credit card (also known as Marriott Rewards® Premier Plus), or Marriott Bonvoy Bold™ credit card, who received a new cardmember bonus within the last 24 months.

Eligibility for the new cardmember bonus: The bonus is not available to you if you:

  • are a current cardmember, or were a previous cardmember within the last 30 days, of Marriott Bonvoy™ American Express® Card (also known as The Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express);
  • are a current or previous cardmember of either Marriott Bonvoy Business™ American Express® Card (also known as The Starwood Preferred Guest® Business Credit Card from American Express) or Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant™ American Express® Card (also known as the Starwood Preferred Guest® American Express Luxury Card), and received a new cardmember bonus or upgrade bonus in the last 24 months; or
  • applied and were approved for Marriott Bonvoy Business™ American Express® Card (also known as The Starwood Preferred Guest® Business Credit Card from American Express) or Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant™ American Express® Card (also known as the Starwood Preferred Guest® American Express Luxury Card) within the last 90 days.

I agree it's not super-exciting, but it might be a good downgrade option for those who have the Bonvoy Boundless and find themselves not needing the perks for a while (or the $95 AF).

I can't imagine anybody applying out-right for this product over the Boundless, though.  It would seem if someone stayed at Marriott enough to benefit from the Bold then the Boundless would be even better (for most people, anyway).

Re: New Chase Bonvoy Bold Visa Signature Card

I was intrigued when I saw the news about a no annual fee Marriott card coming to Chase... I knew the benefits wouldn't be as good, but as others have stated, it could have been better than it is. Honestly, the no annual fee hotel cards don't seem worth it to me. IMHO, I think the $95 annual fee cards are the minimum someone should be looking at if they are loyal to a hotel brand.

Agreed 100%. IMO, it's hard to figure out exactly where this card fits in the overall market. I can't see any non-Marriott loyalists wanting the card (except for a minor churn) and any serious Marriott lovers have much better options via the Boundless and (especially) the Brilliant.

Re: New Chase Bonvoy Bold Visa Signature Card

I think it's a decent no AF product for people in that category, and will come in handy for downgrades.

Especially since you don't find too many non AF card with no FTFs.

I'm not eligible for another 22 months though, since I got the Amex Bonvoy Biz 2 months ago. Though I'd go for the AF version first.

Re: New Chase Bonvoy Bold Visa Signature Card

This card can work when paired with the AMEX Platinum.

The Platinum gives Marriott Gold status, but is a sorry points earner if one stays at Marriott ( apart from well-planned prebooking through AX Travel )

The no-AF Chase Marriott gets better points at Marriott. By avoiding the AF cards, one avoids the hoops to use the free night, and in the case of Brilliant, avoids the $300 spend reimbursement. This puts the cardholder in a more-flexible setup where most stays are paid, except when the cardholder wants to use points for the stay. It also balances AMEX and VISA as available cards working somewhat in alignment.

I am considering this, would need to close AX to wait the 30+ days to get a SUB.

Re: New Chase Bonvoy Bold Visa Signature Card

Definitely intriguing to see but overall - average. It's a good option to downgrade to as mentioned before. The no FTF and 15 Elite Night Credits are decent perks, but overall, I wouldn't get it. There's much better cards out there that are no AF and have better returns. This would be more worthwhile if the points at Marriott were at least 5x and was 2x on all purchases.
