Anyone else seen this message/know the result? My statement cuts in 10 days - maybe they're reviewing my account for an auto-CLI? (It's been 5 months since my last auto!)
Yes, I got this message a couple of weeks ago. I haven't had an auto CLI since maybe November or December of last year.
Did they increase your limit, then? And yikes - you are certainly due for it!
No, they haven't increased it yet. All I really want is $110 to get me to 10K! I feel I'm due for an increase. As much as I've tried to ween myself off of Discover, it really is our go to card of choice. We run a lot through this card.
That's it I've had it with Discover. Last quarter's category was Hotels and I spent a couple of thousands only to find out that the $300 limit was on spending. Which means you can get a maximum of $15 in cashback... in 3 months!!! What crap

Happened to me last year with the restaurant bonus; spent about $800 at McCormick and Shmick's only to discover that there was a $200 cap. Yes, I felt cheated but I accept responsibility for not reading the terms of the offer.
I just resived a credit limit increase from 1700 to 2200 I just have 6 month with then.

Which is why you don't rely on a single card to give you all rewards unlimited. Those days ended in about the 90's I'd wager.
July-September had gas rewards. So I just switched off of my Chevron Visa and started using Discover at any gas station. Then when it ended I did an accounting and I had gone over the $300 cap by $200, but no big deal because I knew in advance the rewards were capped. Gas and clothing are the only two categories I really care about for this card anyway. For gas I've got the Chevron Visa which has fuel credits. For any other purchases I've got the Thank You network off of my debit card, which I can cash in for anything.
Down the road when I get my balances paid down I'll go for Citi's Thank You Prestige card, and start leaning more towards that for anything except gas.

Well, my account is only 4 months old, and the speed with which it came back, there was no time to pull a soft or hard.
+1
My account is a little over 3 months old. The rejection was on the screen before I could lift my finger off the mouse button!
+2
Rejected in a fraction of a second. My account is thirteen months old, used every month and paid in full, redeemed cashback etc. Still sitting at $3500. I've yet to see a CLI from them. Definitely not going to call in and risk a HP!

Yeah. their stupid little cap. I don't want to know how many people misread the cap as the maximum cashback they can accrue. In my opinion, this is phrased to be misunderstood on purpose.I've learned to play their little cap game. Since I got the Chase Freedom, I don't worry much about caps as I usually don't reach those and as the categories of the two cards are strikingly similar for many quarters.
it clear to me that discover will not, unless you are one of those that make 200,000 a year and quickly paying off HUGE loans or pushing millions of $$$(exaggration) through credit accounts, they WONT BUDGE with a soft pull unless you hard pull first.
i also like mrShush, get the you have a credit request in progress. well i did attempt a soft pull increase in early august.
