New Kid On The Block

Hello Everyone,

I am new to the forum and would love some advise. I am interested in applying for a Discover Card. My credit is on a rebound but not completely there yet. Scores are as follows:

TU-678
EQ-658
EXP-704

What are my chances? Are they looking at the scores or the reports? Also, please advise if there are any others I should consider?

Thanks,

Shadowlgt

Welcome to credit heaven.

As far as the card you want, do you have any baddies within 2 years. If so how long ago and how bad.

How does your ulti looks like, your other card CL, longest TL, average credit history. Etc

Re: New Kid On The Block

score wise you look like you have a better than average shot. however, discover is very tuff and unless your reports are clean or at least any baddies are very old i wouldn't try.

welcome!

Re: New Kid On The Block

All lenders look at both --scores and reports. They vary in terms of how much weight they put on each. Right now, unless Discover is flooding mailboxes with offers, as they did this past winter, I'd say you're not quite there yet.

Hard to give any advice without more info. If you'd be willing to post what the baddies are on each report, including when they happened, you'll probably get more useful feedback.

If you are in a region that pulls EX (like me) you will be fine.

Re: New Kid On The Block

Hello Again ShyBoy,

Thanks for your propmt reply. I have already gone through the subprime cards like Orchard Bank and Credit One Bank. Back during my irresponsible days my Orchard was at one time well over 90 days but I have since maintained a good payment record but the $300.00 CL was closed by them.

However, my Credit One Bank CL went from $300.00 to $1,000.00 because of the good history I have maintained.

Now, I do have an old utility that shows delinquent but I am interested in paying it off to get it cleared up. I am hesitant to do so for fear of reaging. I would rather do a "Pay To Delete" any idea how to go about this and if so how many points of an increase could I gain as a result. The total bill was about $140.00 that still shows after approximately 9 1/2 years.

Thanks

There are examples of PFD (pay for delete) letters in the Rebuilding Your Credit forum. There is a stickied thread "Frequently Requested Threads" that contains a ton of information as well as samples. Good luck!

9.5 years?  It should be gone after seven.  Demand a delete.
