New Years CLIsolutions

So my new years credit resolutions are:

1) don't apply for any new accounts - hard to do I know but I'm happy with my current mix

2) Get CLIs on Discover and Chase Freedom

How should I go about doing this. What is the best method for obtaining CLI from these 2 cards. They are difficult. Currently they are in the sock drawer. They both have low limits. They will both be a year in or around July which is when I intend on requesting CLIs. What should I do up until then with these card? Any advice?

Re: New Years CLIsolutions

I would simply run some small charges on them and PIF prior to the statement cut.

This would be the easiest solution while providing activity on the card.

Re: New Years CLIsolutions

i've read other threads here about Discover CLIs. Apparently they are big on usage, so if you use your Discover card a lot, it will put you in a better position for a CLI.

Current Cards: Banana Republic Visa ($5,300), Chase Freedom ($2,000), Discover It ($11,500), Amex Costco True Earnings ($5,000), Chase Slate ($2,500)

Re: New Years CLIsolutions

I also thought Discover was a hard pull. I may begin to put a few expenses through these cards each month. In July if I don't have an auto CLI, then I will request a HP. By then my UTL should be lower as well!

Re: New Years CLIsolutions

@laboi_22 I would run some regular bills (utility, car) though them for 6 months til july and ask for CLI.

Re: New Years CLIsolutions

I was thinking of doing that however that is what I use my Zync for. But Discover now has 2% cash back for utility bills till the end of this year. Good incentive!!

Assign at least 1 bill to each card, still getting rawards and keeping the cards active.
