New file very thin...trying my luck

Ok...I got my first Credit Card in Nov 2013 (Cap1 500) Applied for Barclay Apple 04/14 was declined  then did recon was approved for 3000 which was the amount i asked for. Applied with American Airlines Credit Union 5/15 got approved for 1000 on a starter card. I was on a roll applied for chase freedom was declined for short history called recon 2x still declined. Then I applied with amec bce (i heard it was easy to get) got a hard DECLINE called recon they told me my score was 537 WITH EX Smiley Mad i almost fainted HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE???    I called EX they after checking my report and my fille had been mixed with someone elses (SHOOT ME PLEASE).  The agent I spoke to assured me they would fix it within 3 days and they did THANK GOD and so i decided to reapply with AMEX and NFCU. AMEX sent my app to the underwriters for reconsideration and Navy shows PENDING they said i have to wait 3-5 days for both....Should i be worried ??? Just got my FICO credit scores EQ 638 EX 730 TU 738

Re: New file very thin...trying my luck

Scores like that have been getting people into Discover IT and Chase Freedom cards. Why don't you reapply for Freedom now that your scores got fixed? Unless your inquiries are stratospheric now.. however, there's a good argument to get those denial inquiries deleted since the denials were based on false information (file mixup).

Sounds like you have a good start and a mind for the credit game, good luck Smiley Happy

Re: New file very thin...trying my luck

p.s. with your EQ FICO running so much lower than the others, I would give it a close look for any errors. 100 points lower means they could be showing something that should be dropped, or else reporting something inconsistent with the others. Could just be scoring differences, but mine are all closer than that in range

Re: New file very thin...trying my luck

Not bad at all on inquiries.. you can afford to poke around a bit (maybe not the Barclay Bear, whatever that is lol), and see if you can get a few more. Did you try the preapproval sites? (Search Community for "preapproval sites" should find them.) Also have you hit the Cap1 increase button online? It's a harmless soft pull and they've been generous lately

Re: New file very thin...trying my luck

I will try not to upset the bear Smiley Tongue I have never heard of "pre approval sites" but i will look into it thanks for the tip..... I did look at my eq report and everything matches up by my fico report card my score is lower because my file history is short and thin and i have been seeking credit and I dont have any installment loans.

Re: New file very thin...trying my luck

I also do not have as a matter of facts never had any installment loans, no car loans, no mortgage just plain revolving accounts and the maximum Fico I was able to reach was 810 on EQ, 808 on EX (Amex) or 791 on TU. So it does not necessarily need installment accounts for scoring but on manual review this could be a whole different shoe.
