New registered user but lurking for years...Need some advice..

Hi!

I'm a "new" member but I have been lurking and reading and gaining knowledge for many years..Smiley LOL Now I need some advice if I should recon or go ahead or leave it be. I have an 8 yo old BK from 2004.

I recently received 2 preapprovals from Chase for Slate & Freedom which I was approved for both..Crazy thing is before I applied for those I applied for Chase Amazon a few days before and was denied.  I received my denial letter yesterday and it stated BK as the only denial reason?? ummm OK???

So my question is should I recon the Chase Amazon or leave it be??? I just hate taking the inquiry for nothing but again I did get 2 Chase cards..Freedom $7000 with 12.99 APR and Slate $9000 with 11.24% APR

I'd say, leave it be. You just got $16,000 from Chase.

Or we can make a deal, transfer your CL from your Freedom to mine and I can talk to someone about getting the Amazon for you Smiley Happy

Chase is an unusual beast.

They'll give me a $1,400 Freedom that I use like there's no tomorrow but then give me a $5,800 Hyatt Visa which I never use.

Your Freedom is the envy of many. Trust me.

Are those your only 2 cards?

PS: Thanks for the compliments on the blog. Appreciate it!

Thanks Frugal!

I have a Discover More, a few store cards, and I applied for a credit card from my bank, Regions about 7-10 days ago, called them said they have no info as it's backed by I think they said FIA...I'm hoping to hear something soon..

Should I recon the FIA if denied??

I would recon ANYTHING that already took an inquiry for the application.

Worst thing that can happen is someone tells you "no" in a bunch of different languages.

If you want, you can PM me about your situation and we can talk about it... so we can stay on topic ;-)

But to your earlier point, I'll be around for quite a while today, and it not, I'm sure a lot other posters would chime in on the recon.

Personally, I've used the approach of "I am trying to build a positive credit history and your card fits my profile absolutely. I'm hoping to spend a lot on this card" and it's worked before Smiley Happy Just don't get into technical terms about AAOA, inquiries, such and such... simple is better.
