No Credit file, need help

Hello Everyone, I am 41 years old, I never had no credit cards. I have no credit history, I apply for a capital one card, I was deny, I forget to give the rep my checking and savings info. Are there any credit cards, that will approve me or are there secured credit card with a low deposit($100) that I apply for me to help me get a credit score. One thing I did do is apply for Capital one, Credit One and Capital one today, I was denied 3 times.

A commonly recommended Secured card that doesn't pull CRs for approval is SDFCU:

You might miss it on a quick read, but scroll down.  Their lowest CL is $250.

Is this card secured or unsecured?

It is a Secured card. Unfortunately, you may have to start with secured cards if you have no credit history. If you have a credit union in your are that you can become a member of, they may be willing to issue you an unsecured card if you can put a decent amount of savings in an account with them.

Re: No Credit file, need help

SDFCU has both secured and unsecured cards. I got a secured one a couple months ago with no score, thin file, etc... It's got a APR of 6.99 which seems really good to me. There is a cool chip in it. Not sure what it's for exactly (think for traveling out of country and security) but it looks neat. to get the card with them you have to become a member which wasn't to hard for me. I'm not 100 percent sure but im pretty sure if you apply for the card online they do a hard pull but if you call on the phone they do a soft pull.

The other secured card I got with no score was from TD Bank. The APR is much higher at 22 percent. I originally got denied, jumped through some I'd verification hoops, got denied again, jumped through some more hoops and eventually got the secured card but I had to fight for it. SDFCU was a much nicer experience for me. Hope this helps.

Re: No Credit file, need help

I second TwistedAngel's advice to look into a local credit union. I got an unsecured credit card at 18 with no credit history when I joined a credit union to set up direct deposit.

Unless you have bad credit (no credit is not bad credit), I don't think you need to be getting a secured card. Get a copy of your free annual report. Make sure you have no baddies.

Re: No Credit file, need help

Fairly sure fingerhut reports?

My wife has a thin file as well (nothing on her report) but fingerhut gave her a 120 or something like that approval provided she pay 30 dollars of what shes ordering before they ship the card and item we ordered.  Its about the only way other than a secured card we could figure for her to start her credit.

Fingerhut denied me but gave her an account, CapitalOne approved me and denied her =/  makes no sense Smiley Tongue

If you applied for CapitalOne Platinum and got denied you may try for the CapitalOne QuicksilverOne I was approved for both with bad credit, judgements and collections with no reporting credit cards on my file or payment history, but I do have savings and checking account, they didnt ask for the account info, just if I had them.

Be sure its those specific capital one cards, they are the bottom of the barrel so to speak, the other cards need better ratings to get.

Other than that =/  I am not too well versed in secured cards.  First Premier used to be one of the easier credit cards to get but they will give you fees up the wazoo.

Re: No Credit file, need help

I was not approved for the Capital One Platinum card yesterday. I was not approved for the Credit One card and the Capital one Student Traveler card.  I will give fingerhut a chance to see if I get approved.
