Has anyone tried to product change or upgrade their current Chase card to the new Sapphire Reserve? I just called the number on the back of my Sapphire Preferred and I was told that upgrades are not available at the moment. I know that by not applying I would be missing out on the signup bonus but I just don't want to open up a new card.
I sent a secure message to see if I might have any luck that way...guess we will see what happens!
Update: I just called the number on the back of my Freedom and spoke to a different person and I asked to see if it was possible to upgrade my Freedom to the Sapphire Reserve. I was told that it was available to do so. I then asked why I couldn't upgrade my Sapphire Preferred to the Reserve because I would really rather keep the Freedom card where it is. They checked my Sapphire Preferred and saw no issues and saw that it was available to upgrade!! We did the conversion and I just checked at Chase online and my account already has changed from Preferred to Reserve!!
I think there have been lots of reports here of success
As long as your CSP is at least a year old, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to, let us know if the secure message does the trick and what they say ![]()
Update: SUCCESS!! If at first you don't succeed...TRY, TRY AGAIN!!
Yes I was able to PC/upgrade my CSP to the CSR smoothly. Also Congrats on converting it! Sometimes it just takes talking to a different rep thst makes all the difference.
I also had success after contacting the CHASE staff several times.
First, I applied online (I wanted the bonus and didn't care about the hard pull). I received an email stating a 30 day waiting period.
Then, I called the reconsider line - was recommended to transfer part of my credit limit from CSP to Reserve, which I had no problem with but was not given an approval confirmation.
Next, I went to the branch to see if I can expediate the process - no luck. The rep couldn't do anything.
Finally, I tried calling again, this time to the CSP direct line, and was transfered once to a lending advisor who approved my card and now it's on its way!
Gathering from other blogs/groups, it appears that different reps give different responses so being persistent is the key.
Congrats!
