Non Use Of CC and Automatic Closure...

In the next few weeks I am going to become debt free...currently I have the following cards

(3) captial one (one was orchard that converted)

(1) barclays apple financing visa

(2) citicards

(1) bofa cash rewards

My question is if I use two cards and PIF will the other banks eventually close the accounts I am not using?

Also, another question...I thought I saw on Equifax something that showed your account balance history, is that correct?

Thank you

Most banks and issuers will close an account following a long inactivity period. You can always pull it out once every few months and buy a candy bar or something to keep it active.

Congratulations on paying off your debt! After a period of inactivity, your accounts will. E closed. If you do not use them or need them (util) then let them close or set them up to pay a reoccurring charge.

Yes, EQ shows your account balance/pyt history if the creditor reports the information to them.

When I went to the Middle East for 8 months, Capital One never closed my account - YMMV

Kohls did, but store cards are notorious for this.

This is only the last two years correct? I'm looking at my EQ report, and payment details appear all the way back to September 2011. I hope so, because in 2010 I was making min. payments... that would look bad Smiley Tongue

Re: Non Use Of CC and Automatic Closure...

They usually wont close it unless you go like two or more years w no use.
Good rule of thumb imo: use every account you have at least once every 6 months, even if it's just a small purchase- say a candy bar or energy drink. Lol :-)
