Anybody know how easy or difficult it is to get a Nordstrom card?

There is not a lot of info on who gave me credit.

they tend to be pretty laid back... not to sub prime level... but pretty laid back.... and I suggest if you get a decline to call and talk to a rep about looking into it for you... they are very hands on vs computer.

but my friend in low 600's with 2 year old bk got declined... hope that helps

also once approved... you are golden then for easy cli and lower interest rate tiers!!

Start off with standard store card like I did, upgraded to plat visa.. very tough on recent inqs. not starter card either way. Make sure no recent baddies or AA on cr.. need scores of at least 670 or so for visa

I applied online and got a message saying that they were reviewing

10 days later got a letter stating that they could not verify my info

I called and the csr put me on hold and told me that my address was listed as drive and not way and he guessed that that was what was holding the computer from verifing.

So .....

I was Approved  for a store card with $1000 limit!!

and to think that I almost let that go when I got the letter in the mail saying they could not verify info.

and the CSR said that my credit looked very nice :  I have not heard that in a long time!

If we get their regular card will they upgrade to Visa? If they do can we keep the same card or will it be a different card number?

you can probably upgrade in as little as 3 months if you make some big purchases and carry small balance... probably new number for a visa and you can get cli and lower apr easy once you establish that relationship

If we get a new number that means two accounts right? I think it is bad for fico scoring as it is treated as new account and dilutes the average age of score. Am I correct in my assumption? I dont want my scores to drop, unless nordstorm removes the old account and place the new account in place of the old account with the same age of the account. Did any got their account upgraded with Nordstorm?
