Normal for a BOA call with no use?

I want to say I have had the card for almost two months

And I have not touched it (zero use)

Got a call from them offering to explain the features/ how to use the card... umm ok

I said I did not have time for anything like that.

She said she would call back another day to go over the card and hung up

If I do not use the card will they close it and is it a good idea to use the card? (I have been using only my AMEX and Chase cards)

Eventually with no use, they will close it....but it would still be longer then 2 months. I would just buy a pack of gum at the gas station every few months and that will take care of that.

Yeah, they do courtesy calls even with use a good while after the approval. It's kind of strange, but I guess they want to make sure people know what benefits their cards have.

Favorite cards: AMEX Morgan Stanley Platinum | BofA Alaska | Chase Hyatt | Citi AA Executive | FNBO Amtrak

They probably thinks it's odd when a person applies for a credit card and doesn't use it. If you worry about a card being closed because of non use, there's a simple solution; use it.

Re: Normal for a BOA call with no use?

I don't recall getting a call from BofA, but I have had other banks call to check up on me.  US Bank called to check on me (didn't even offer any products, just asked if there was anything they could do) after I tried out the pre-qualify site.  Invited me to stop in if I have any questions or need any assistance (thinking of going in to see if I can FINALLY get a CLI on any of my US Bank cards)

It's just good customer service, something so rare nowadays that, when we see it, we're shocked.

Yes, that happened to me when I received my BB card from Bank of America. I really didn't have time to talk, but thought it was a good thing that they called.

Re: Normal for a BOA call with no use?

I received a call after I got BOA cash rewards. I didn't mind it. The lady was nice and explained a few features. Gave me a chance to ask a couple questions without having to call and be on hold.

Yes. Many issuers can close your card due to inactivty. My NFL extra will close if I have 6 statements cut with no activity, so netflix autopay goes to that card every month.

Must be random.  I just closed my BOA Visa yesterday and that was after 8 consecutive months of zero activity on the card (never got a phone call).  I used it a decent amount but nothing crazy heavy.

Got the call as well after a few weeks of having the card.  Just a follow-up thing is all, nothing more.
