Should I call them, tell them I applied and was denied one of their cards, and wish to be reconsidered for one since I have no baddies on my CR and have never been late on any card?

What should i say ?

laniepr, are those true FICO scores??  I can't imagine Target or Hooter's denying you for having scores like that.....other than having to few trade lines reporting.

Yes those are the scores that I got from Myfico.com

I think when I applied for those cards they were lower since i had a collection that was removed recently ( which I didn't know I had) so my score jumped up over 60 points. That collection was in there because of an insurance error. It was a medical bill and I never owed it. Anyway that might have been the reason why I was denied but I'm not sure because I also have a limited credit history.

I want to call Target and see if they will reconsider giving me a card.

Do they deny b/c of limited credit?

They could. We know Hooter's does, from what I've heard.

Why don't you call them. Tell them you would like to be reconsidered for a cc. But tell them up front you DO NOT want this request to result in a hard inquiry. Make absolutely sure they understand that. Some CSR's don't have a clue what a hard inquiry is.

Ok, updating this.

I called target and they weren't very helpful. The only thing they told me was to try applying again and then call back and i would most likely get approved. I did and I was approved for a $200.00 red card (but got that message saying they were going to review it whatever), I called and they said I was approved.

Should I try with Hooters? I don't think they will because my CR only shows 1 positive revolving credit card and nothing else.
