Several news outlets reporting on the Target and Nordstrom breaches, and some security news sites made mention several times last week of "additional" potential breaches from 6 other retailers who have not come forward, and indicating those retailers may also have been affected by the same malware as Target's. Nothing has been confirmed obviously, but the mention of the Secret Service and FBI investigating makes one wonder.

Hmmm, had not heard that yet, thx for info.
Same thing happened to me today... declined.
@RnJ wrote:Is there any common denominator for the posters here who have their OCCU cards on hold? For example:
1. Was this your first purchase since obtaining your OCCU card? Nope.
2.. Did everyone purchase from the same retailer say, within the last 15 or so days? Haven't used the card in over a month.
3. Related to the Target breach or Nordstrom or Michael's? Or the purported 6 other retailers that have yet to come forward? Haven't used any of those retailers since getting this card.
4. If so many cards are on hold, might this possibly be a bank breach? (happens occasionally, even if no card numbers were breached, it is a precautionary measure with the bank) Maybe.
It's confusing, since the mentions were last week and if it was true, one would think those retailers would come forward soon enough, rather than what usually happens - retailers sit on the information for an extended amount of time while thousands get their bank accounts drained or their credit cards cancelled. Granted, investigations take time before public announcements, but c'mon, if they are conjecture, then come out and say so!
To add to the data points:
1. Was this your first purchase since obtaining your OCCU card? Yes, but card not declined.
2.. Did everyone purchase from the same retailer say, within the last 15 or so days? Used once, end of Dec, at local sporting goods store, not used since.
3. Related to the Target breach or Nordstrom or Michael's? Or the purported 6 other retailers that have yet to come forward? N/A, assuming my local sporting goods store was not breached.
4. If so many cards are on hold, might this possibly be a bank breach? (happens occasionally, even if no card numbers were breached, it is a precautionary measure with the bank) I'm guessing bank data compromised, but willing to accept other possibilities.
Has anyone with a Duck or Beaver card successfully used it this weekend?
@gdale6 wrote:Ya, same here, only had card in hand 5 days and I don't believe them. I pressed hard demanding answers got none then I told them "I don't play games and if you are too small of an operation to eat a few bogus charges should they occur you can put the card where the sun doesn't shine unless you release the account right now". They refused, the card is in the beaver/duck crapper, permanently. I also told them they will erase all references to self from my CR incl the app inquiry or they will hear from my lawyer. No I wasnt kidding about the lawyer I have a corp one on retainer at all times and he is the type who wound stuff own mom for a profit (the best one to have).. End of the OCCU story for me.
I don't get this... You had fraud on your account and you were asking them to release the hold?

I did not have any fraud on my account, all the charges were made or attempted by me.
BOTH of my Duck and Beaver cards got compromised. I HAVE NEVER USED MY BEAVER CARD. EVER. What does that tell you?
Sounds like they're reviewing a lot of new accounts. Not limited to accounts not even used would indicate an internal breach somewhere in the pipeline.
Getting inexcusable now how often this is happening.
Did anyone having success using their OC CU products this weekend?

It must be an internal compromise then. An employee or someone with access to accounts. *or* the flood of new accounts. I hope mine isn't affected, I'm pretty sure I was the first one to get it back in July around here so if that's the problem I hope mine isn't affected...I do know on 1/22 an auto-charge I have monthly went through with no problem. I haven't used it since though.
