OK, so I received my AMEX Gold, now What?

Thats right, I apped for it because i wanted it more than because I needed it and Im not even sure how I can benefit from it.

So far I know for a fact I would like a card with miles and this was the closest I could get to such thing (due to my credit).

I have been using my CAP1 platinum for almost everything as it has decent cash rewards (and have been PIF almost every month), and my CITI Diamond Prefered for big (credit) expenses, since it's at 0% APR till July IIRC.

So, If I understand correctly (I've been reading the literature) I will get Purchase protection, extended warranty, baggage protection, etc on purchases.

But, how can I take advantage of  the rewards program?

I am currently NOT going trough a lot expenses every month, say maybe 1k per month MAX goes on my card, mostly food and gas.

Feedback anyone?

Thanks in advance

The best use of MR points is to transfer them to partner loyalty programs, particularly when there is a promotion giving more than 1:1 ratio.  Like right now, you can get 1.5 Avios points per MR point, instead of just 1 to 1.  FF miles can already be worth more than a penny, so this can make MR points quite valuable.  Other than transferring them, I'm pretty sure all the other uses top out at a penny per point, like using pay with points and redeeming for gift cards.

Whats a good Frequent Flyer program/airline to look into?

I am not a frequent traveler but I intend to change that, I have plans to take a few trips within the US, possibly HI in the next couple of years and would love to have anything I can paid with MR points.

Also make sure to use Amex's bonus point mall for any online purchases you make.  It's a great way to get additional MR points.  You can also link the account to your facebook account (I forget what the correct term is) and get discounts and coupons sent directly to your card.

Current:
TU (5/14/14): 796 (Inquiries; 8/23/13)
EQ (3/23/14): 791 (Inquiries: 8/23/13)
EX (9/24/13): 780 (Inquiries: 7/2/12; 11/20/12; 7/30/13; 8/23/13)

Goals: No new inquiries for 2014, 800 for all CRs by 12/31/14

Yeah, I just saw that a couple of hours ago, and almost fainted because I recently bought a phone from best buy and an IPAD from target.

I could have gotten 3% MR on those...

About the social media coupons, I just registered my Tweeter account, is there a similar program for Facebook?

Thanks for the input.

Use it heavily and PIF every month. Best way to set yourself up for revolvers from them in the future.
