Offer to grant a substantial SP CLI on one of my cards, question...

Due to the recent EQ data breach, earlier today I froze all of my credit reports. However, after this was done, I received an email, SP CLI offer on one of my cards for substantial amount. My question is, will I have to unfreeze the CRA the card uses for CLIs before I give it a go? And if so, how long will it take to have the unfreeze appled? Or: since it does not requires HP or a app, is unfreezing not required? Pls advise, thanks

You don't need to unfreeze for a SP CLI, only when something involving an HP.

Im sure someone else will chime in but i think your current creditors will still be able to sp your reports even though frozen.

Some lenders will use a SP they have on file for a SP CLI. It was my understanding, however, that they cannot soft pull your report if its frozen.

If that were the case, how did they obtain the SP on file in the first place? All my files has been locked since April and only unlocked for brief moments when I app, I have since received SP CLIs with Citi, Amex, Cap One and Discover, all of my scores offers by various cards has been updating every month, not to mention all the free services like CK, Nerdwallet, creditcard.com, NAV...etc.

Your current creditors can still SP your reports if they are locked.
