Oh Capital One

So of course I'm in credit steps with my QS1 and I went ahead and tried for a CLI as I've stalked the forums for a while and it's like only way to find out something is to ask. I submitted my request and their response was "card usage is high". So I'm confused? I pay it all the way of each month with exception of a few dollars as my limit is only $300 which hey gotta start somewhere.

So with my card being 3 months old next month should I try again or just wait for my increase come February that's when they said I would get the increase to $500?!

I know the myFico gurus have the insight.

Thanks!

Card usage is high sounds like it might be almost maxed, which isn't hard to do with a $300 limit

also, you are too early for a CLI. Maybe try again after your 3 rd statement cuts

NFCU $60.4k/PenFed $22.5k/Commerce $15K/53 $11K/Synovus $14K/BBT $11K/CapOne $12K/DCU $7.5K/BMO $7.5K/Chase $14.5k/Cabelas $10K/ and many many more!
Total CL $398600, plus car and RV loan.
Ooh. Ooh. Getting closer to that $500K mark!

Re: Oh Capital One

You have to wait 3 months after account opening (6 months after a CLI) to ask for a Cap One CLI, you triggered early.

Re: Oh Capital One

@fltireguy thank you! Going to have it at zero this weekend and keep it low and wait until next month sometime.

@oldman87 Figured that too.

Re: Oh Capital One

"High usage" is what's keeping me from a CLI right now as well, despite it being around 7%. But if you read their descriptions of reasons for denial, that reason doesn't have a description. I've kept it pretty low for a while now. I'm hoping after my next statement cuts, they'll go ahead and grant the CLI. We'll see.

@DUISlayer exactly. I saw the descriptions and that's not there so was surprised to see that. But I'll just keep being patient.

Re: Oh Capital One

I've been doing CLIs every few days. My Message Center is filled with rejection letters. Lol. Hopefully one day they'll change their mind.

Re: Oh Capital One

Hey, don't give up. Just for the heck of it (and because it's been about 5 days since I last tried), I just did it again. They just bumped me up from $2500 to $4500. I'll take it! I think I first started trying about a month and a half ago. Doesn't hurt. They probably got sick of mailing me letters every few days. Lol
