Oh how I love you, AmEx Offers!

Hey gang,

Just wanted to come here and say how much I love AmEx offers (and maybe to remind some folks to check theirs - they have some handy stuff on occasion).

I just checked the offers on my Cash Magnet and saw this gem:

4303350E-2508-4812-8A59-3F0AAF2108CF.jpeg

We do most of our shopping at Costco but will spend $50 a week on ancillary stuff at Fry's (Kroger brand).

I'm currently about to hit the sub requirement on my BCP, from when I upgraded from my BCE. Once I hit that, I'll use my Cash Magnet for those little $50 grocery runs.

It's worth mentioning the fact that they are using plural forms of 'purchases' and 'credits' and the use of the term 'total statement credits' lead me to believe the $20 can be achieved from (2) $50 purchases, instead of needing to be on 1 transaction. I used the chat feature to confirm this.

That's all I got. Check your offers!

Re: Oh how I love you, AmEx Offers!

I know you said Fry's is under the Kroger brand, but are you saying you'd use it there? I ask because the offer specifically says Kroger, Kroger.com, or their mobile app.

But back the topic at hand, I have used Amex offers a bit in the last year having my new BCP. I've saved ~$47, which is basically half the AF coming up in December.

I did think of this as well. A bit of anecdotal evidence from another institution leads me to believe it should work.

I've used an offer from Chase that was for Kroger gas and it worked at the Fry's gas station. They specifically called for Kroger as well.

I know, it's a different FI and a completely different offer all together but I'm crossing my fingers.

I'll definitely report back once I use the offer if/when I'm credited to confirm AmEx sees Fry's as Kroger.

Re: Oh how I love you, AmEx Offers!

@Cashbackjunky capital one added 3% Cashback on groceries. Capital one is my oldest of the 2 so I had no use for bce. Plus back when I had it was 2% gas and select department stores. No 3% gas and 3% online shopping. Plus the Cashback was statement credit only with 25 min redemption. If it had the rewards it has now then I would have kept it and tolerated the 25 min redemption.

Yeah, they're good if they happen to hit on something you actually use, which for me isn't often. I wish I could have the time back I've spent looking through them.  Particularly annoying for me is that usually, on the rare occasion that there is one I could use, it's a personal item on my business card, or a business item on my personal card.  I have 5 Amex cards, with 5 different sets of 100 offers, and I probably get to use 1 a month, if that much.
